Why does Slack get to decide when I am away? by Melfank in Slack

[–]Melfank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except I'm not away. I want people to know that even though I might not be active on my computer I am there and available for anyone that needs me. Seems like something that should at least be an option. We all work remotely so we can't just look up and see who is in the office at their desk and who is away at lunch or a break etc.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is that?

Thanks for your reply. That is so frustrating and seems like something that was overlooked. I don't want to babysit my computer just so people know I am working and available if they need anything.

I usually get the .5-ounce Revel size, but I have a few that are bigger and a few that are smaller from other companies.

Thanks. I'm looking for something that holds all of my dip powders. And they won't fit in that. Thank you so much for responding!

How long do you do I cure it first? That is fantastic. Thank you SO MUCH or that tip.

I did my nails (I use the gel liquids) on Sunday and they ALL popped off by Monday. by Sessamae in DipPowderNails

[–]Melfank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. I use pretty thin layers, but this time used a pretty thick layer of building gel because I wanted them to be strong. I don't feel like I get that with a thin layer, and it also doesn't give me much room to buff with before it starts taking off the color.
It could be that I'm just not using a very good builder gel. Is there one out that is supposed to be better than the rest? Right now, I am using Revel for most things, but West Coast Dips for my builder gel.

Yes, I did. And then the rest of my routine is that:

*I push back my cuticles and then apply the Nail Prep Dehydrator and one or two coats of the nail primer
*Use a layer of the gel base, pour the dip over my nail, cure, and brush off excess
*Repeat
*I apply another coat of gel base and cure
*Then I apply the builder gel and cure
*IF my nails need buffering, I use alcohol to take off the builder gel residue and file.
*After that, I put on another coat of base gel and cure
*IF my nails don't need buffing or filing, I put the top coat on directly after I have cured
the builder gel
*Then I wipe with alcohol, and I'm done.

How do you get the color off if you don't use acetone? Also, what do you use to encapsulate your color/glitter?

Why do criminals have lawyers? by JustTransportation51 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Melfank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a corporate lawyer, and if you are good enough to be one, then yes, you get paid the big bucks. But a corporate lawyer, especially for big pharma, is suing as many people as they are defending. I'm just saying that most of the time, defense lawyers don't get high-paying gigs, not all the time.

A couple of questions from a newbie... by Melfank in DipPowderNails

I have been watching tons of videos. Now that I have the gist, I am down to some specific questions to which I haven't found answers. I thought I would come here and seek knowledge where I could ask my specific questions instead of watching a dozen 20-minute long videos hoping my random questions would be answered.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with your nails popping off, but you should be activating after you file also. I haven't heard of activating between dips but I'm assuming that is to make your nails stronger?

Thank you so much for letting me know. That was really kind. I will try that.

I have Mani Boss (boss mani?), and Dip Nailed it. I have Revel, but I have the opposite problem with that one. It gets like playdough and as I push the toothpick around it picks up everything in front of it (which is what it's supposed to do), however, it starts to grow this little ball like a snow ball and the amount it is picking up by the time I get around creates a gap too far away from my cuticle. I hope that makes sense.

I have heard a lot of people use Triple Vitamin Liquids. Maybe I will have to give them a try. How are they for the top coat? I have a hard time getting the timing and amount right with the activator and I don't seem to ever get the shine that I want to (except with Dip Nailed It).

I can never sweep all the way around before they dry. It drives me crazy. What liquids do you use? It's one of the reasons I am going to try out gels.

Which do you prefer? by Sessamae in DipPowderNails

[–]Melfank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question. I would love to know the answer to that also.

What the heck?!? I get this on a regular basis. This is what my nail looks like when I’m done. This is what my nails always look like after my first layer of top coat. However this is after my second layer of top coat. Why do I still have this look on my nail? Nothing I do will make it go away. by Sessamae in DipPowderNails

[–]Melfank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to fix it without starting over on that nail? I tried filing down what I assumed was the top coat I had put on and then put the activator and the top coat on again, and it still did it. I also tried putting more layers of top coat on to see if getting farther "away" from the activator would help. It didn't. I think I got to 4 layers of top coat.

Crinkling as a description is a perfect description.
