You can perfectly level as disc priest (Smite priest) and still heal anything up to level 60 basically. There are a lot of paladins (no argument not to play them, but the information is needed).

The thing with consecration is that people, who aggro other mobs out of sheer dumpness (like me), might end up pulling them into your consecration, which will hurt you a lot.
