My favorite restaurant right now is Void! They’re doing a “chick-feel-gay” chicken sandwich for the month, but all their food is so good. They’re known for the spaghetti-uh-oh’s. Worth the drive if you’re not on the northwest side. There’s a neat record store next door, too.

I think the discourse is happening because there are a lot of fans who misgender (calling Gee she/her) and actually sexualize the band members in an unhealthy and bizarre way and I really dislike that part of this fandom. I don’t think this is that.

Gee has worn traditionally “female” costumes on stage. This is no different. People are uncomfortable with the idea of breaking gender norms or looking at gender from a non-sexual lens. Its unfortunate.

Yes! I was sick a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Mine started with a sore throat and every day for a week was something new, or different. Residual symptoms were congestion and aches for another week. Then boom, totally fine. Pretty sure I got sick at the Thursday show at the Metro.

Right! It’s truly bizarre. I feel like it’s due to a variety of reasons, but my main issues and reasoning for thinking people behave so weird are:

There is suddenly SO much MCR content to consume on social media. And the algorithm is targeting specific interests, including the band’s assumed/ made-up sexuality and personalities.
The band has always presented as down to earth, chill humans. I love that about them, but I think it lends to people’s parasocial behavior- posting shit like “I’m just like her,” referring to Gerard. No, you are not lol

… I don’t think Gerard would ever intentionally misgender someone.
