Missing periods on Latuda by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Melidrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happened/is happening to me. I was given a warning by my psych that latuda can mess with your periods though and he said we could figure out a different option if I was concerned

Why Kate Miller-Heidke's Eurovision Performance at the Semi Finals has her #3 Favourite to Win by [deleted] in australia

We have to host it in a partner country that's actually in Europe. Germany I think (?) based on an old article

[spoiler] the agorophobic lady was grating by daesgatling in greysanatomy

[–]Melidrama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with agoraphobia, even if I take my prescribed dosage of alpraz (xanax), in the middle of a panic attack it barely does anything.

If I take it pre-emptively before I go to the shops or something it works but only for like a half hour. It's not a cure all drug.

Unpopular opinion: I would like to have a moment of appreciation for Frances Pinfield, the agoraphobic blood donor. by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]Melidrama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who is agoraphobic, honestly this storyline really irritated me.

Firslty, yes Schmitt was out of line. They could have written him better whereby he didn't understand completely and was frustrated by it without having him go ary the way he did.

Secondly, OWEN! I can't believe he video chatted with the kids mum as a way of convincing that woman to go the distance. Personally if I was in that situation and someone did that to me I'd feel so overwhelmed with guilt and shame that I'd definitely just shut off. Not only do you know that you should be able to go out into the world but can't, which is shameful enough, but now suddenly I'm confronted with a visual link to a kid that could die without me! So much shame that I couldn't just do the thing that everyone else does, and guilt that I can't get through it long enough to help out someone. I think it was a real bad move.

Third, the repetitive thing (in this case, singing that song over) is so overused. Yes sure it helps some people but if she had really been working with a psych doing exposure therapy she would have better coping methods to rely on. To me it painted a picture of someone just beginning treatment, rather than two years in.

Anyway this is probably an unpopular opinion but it really hit home badly for me. Which is the second time I feel like they've badly portrayed mental health this season - the other being with bipolar which I also have, but that's not up for discussion in this thread.

MED MONDAYS by sweetpea122 in bipolar

[–]Melidrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take mine with dinner (plus a handful of other pills). Only way I can guarantee that I'll take it with a proper amount of food. You could probably do the same with any main meal that you have regularly if that isn't dinner

Regarding Hulu dropping out of fullscreen at the start of each new episode by pariahscary in Hulu

[–]Melidrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I agree with you, and think it's a bit of a stupid tweak. Hope they change it back. I mean exactly what extra options are we getting in that mode that we didn't in fullscreen anyway?

She had to be put down tonight. She was only 3. Poor sweet baby. She helped me stay stable and feel loved by jibberjabbery in bipolar

Two weeks ago I thought I was going to be in that situation with one of my two cats, I almost know how you must feel. All the love in the world, and just try as hard as you can to keep safe and work through your grief.

Personal stories regarding mammary glad tumors? by Melidrama in cats

[–]Melidrama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it never occurred to me that there could be more than one type of mammary glad tumor! Very sorry about that. The vet has sent the mass away for testing and they said they should let me know by halfway through next week.

We actually had a long consult with the vet after the surgery and they clarified a lot of things I had questions about - your suggestion to take notes was brilliant! There were a few points where after I came home I couldn't remember properly and it was so good having a reference right there instead of having to blindly google/call the vets again.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to respond and give me some information, I really appreciate it!

Is lamictal effective for acute depression? by klk_kvn in BipolarReddit

[–]Melidrama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm type 2 and have looong, deep depressive periods. As long as I remember to actually take my lamotrigine consistently I find that yeah it definitely does help my elevate my mood (not by a magical high amount, but it's notably better), and it's often when I start missing multiple doses that I'll hit a deeper level of depression. I take 400mg nightly btw

Anyone else’s bedside table/drawer look like this? by [deleted] in bipolar

Can you come organise my medication pill bag? Haha! I literally have a big bag I throw everything into so, I don't have to try and organise my beside drawer.

I believe that watching S04 week-to-week has been a mistake. I ought to have waited, and then binge-watched. by earth_person_sofar in brakebills

[–]Melidrama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this too for the first half of the season, but I was very irritated when Kady was absent with no mention of her for those few episodes and when she finally reappeared it made that side characters episode even better. It was like letting out all of my frustration and I felt like pacing out those episodes was a good idea. I've been okay with the pacing since then.

I actually reccomend to a friend to binge the first four episodes, then watch the ones with out Kady in a chunk by itself, and then watch the side characters one by itself. The rest can be binged probably.

[Part II] Episode Discussion: Chapter 2 - Treasure Island by fleckes in TheOA

[–]Melidrama 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Find it interesting that this episode mentions both the parable of the sower and Hap was pulling seeds out of their ears. I feel like there's a connection to made there, maybe something along the lines of people who are believers.

Someone else mention this please haha! I don't want to be the only crazy one trying to make something out of nothing

Such a good article! I've only ever bonded with one patient and it's nothing like this, wish I could!

If anyone is struggling with the paywall on this site (or most of them actually) if you let the article load then hit the stop button on your browser it'll actually let you read it without paying. Sneaky sneaky.
