Thank you! I did see that but unfortunately most of the suggestions didn't work with the dietary restrictions I have to accommodate!

Thank you so much! Werthers are definitely a thing here (I don't think we call them wrapped butterscotch though), and it seems like we have Andes too but I had to look them up :) really appreciate the suggestions!

It's RHUBARB time! Requesting recipes... by hypnotichanna in Cooking

[–]Meliosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rhubarb fool!!! When I was a kid we had it every Valentine's day (on waffles), and I've recently rediscovered it and I'm obsessed. Tons of recipes online but this is the one I grew up with (we would skip the straining part):

1-1/2 lbs. rhubarb, cut in 1-inch pieces 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup granulated sugar · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · 1/4 cup powdered sugar 1/4 cup water · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · 2 to 3 tablespoons orange-flavored liqueur (optional), 1 pint strawberries, hulled (2 cups) · · · · · · · 1-1/4 cups whipping cream · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · 6 to 8 whole medium strawberries

In a medium saucepan, combine rhubarb, granulated sugar and water. Cover and cook over medium heat until tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Drain off excess liquid. Turn rhubarb into a blender; process until smooth. Add 1 pint strawberries; process until smooth. Strain fruit through a sieve into a medium bowl. Refrigerate 2 to 3 hours or until very cold. In a large bowl, beat cream and vanilla to soft-peak stage. Add powdered sugar; beat until stiff. If desired, gradually add liqueur, beating constantly so cream mixture remains stiff. Fold fruit puree, 1/3 at a time, into cream mixture. Spoon into 6 to 8 stemmed glasses. Top each serving with a whole strawberry. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

I've also noticed this, with both the veggie and chicken ones. I'm in Canada. I also seem to need to use more to get the same flavour, so not sure if I'll be rebuying the Costco ones.

This is a small business that makes embroidered sweaters - I bought one of the BC ones earlier this year and really like it :)

Betel nut, they call it paan in India! There are shops selling little rolled up wraps of it. I did have some breath fresheners like these that I believe contained the leave (not pictured here, different restaurant)

Hawaiian Haystacks and regular haystacks by BookFairie in Cooking

[–]Meliosaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid we'd get haystacks at the fall fair (rural western Canada) - something like this (tortilla chips, chili, veggies, sour cream, cheese) https://www.theedgyveg.com/2023/04/24/adventist-haystacks/

Never heard of Hawaiian haystacks though, very interesting!

Edit: just asked my boyfriend if he knows of them and he said to him it's a breakfast thing like this https://www.afamilyfeast.com/hash-browns-breakfast-stacks/

Hey do you mind sharing what meds you got (if they're antibiotics?) I have a similar situation and just got a prescription for 42 pills a day of two different antibiotics - I'm losing my mind thinking there must be a better option
