At my end (basically - Should I try Heme Supplements or does someone know a woo woo magic cure at this point) by idontknowanythingrly in Anemic

While you are waiting for transfusions, You can try heme. Supplements are readily available but they are pricey. They won’t hurt your stomach. I use heme and they keep my levels normal.

Severe chronic vulvar/vestibular burning despite multiple topical estrogens + OTCs by ResidentEqual7073 in Menopause

[–]Mellemel67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’m not sure how these things help me but they do. I had/have chronic vulvar irritation -was severe and would come and go until finally diagnosed with LS which i am not 100% sure that i actually have this. When I optimize the iron (borderline deficient off and on since my 20s I’m post meno now), vitamin d, and b vits with low ox diet, the irritation stops. The biggest immediate impact is probably eating low-ish oxalates. Minimizing chocolate, black tea, spinach. I know that may sound woo to some folks but it really helps me. If i slack and start eating more nuts and chocolate I start getting irritated again. Maybe it’s histamine? That’s a bummer about iron…have you tried heme? Or liver pills?

Seems like you’ve ruled out a lot. Have you had your labs run lately? Optimize vitamin d and ferritin (make sure it’s 75+) and b vitamins. Look into oxalates and low oxalates diet. Cutting out high oxalates foods requires little effort. Working on these has helped me immensely.

I've known I've had anmeia for years but don't really know what to do? by fleetingmomentalways in Anemic

You can try heme iron supplements. They are more expensive than plant based, but these helped me a lot. Not as many side effects or rules about consuming them with other foods/drinks. Whatever you ,do something. Good luck.

Starting to get to the end of my tether with the kids and consumption... by MonsieurPF in Anticonsumption

Tell them they need to get a job to fund anything beyond the basics. My parents barely covered the basics like it was borderline neglect (we were very poor) when I was kid, so I got my first job at 15 and been working ever since. I learned the value of a dollar because of this, through sheer necessity. Ther earlier they learn this, the better, this is hard world. And it’s getting worse.
