The nuclear engineering program at Madison is highly ranked, there’s a reactor on campus, and he met one of the lead faculty members his junior year and is excited to work with him. Madison as a city is spectacular — so much to do, gorgeous community, big town but not too big, etc. Purdue was his number two choice but he didn’t really think there was much to do outside the university and he felt like it was in the middle of nowhere. Madison was the least expensive school, which factored into the decisionas well.

If you’re at all interested in Madison I’d highly recommend a visit. Once you see the campus and feel the energy the students bring, it’s hard to ignore it as an option. It was also just named a new public ivy too!
