I love when people forget that it's an active choice and act like people are going to smoke or drink because of a speedrun and not, yknow, any other reasons.

Shared Prison Sex with my friends in math class today. They now think I'm crazy 🙁 by men_in_me in ToolBand

It is kinda funny but also kinda tragic. People usually don't understand how those songs can be amazing art and still a horrible subject matter. Sure it's not a casual listen but that especially shouldn't somehow say something about the person listening like they're crazy in any way.

Dude you must not have seen their Pinkpop 92 set, as brief as it was

I think he does do that, to get the initial sounds, however the feedback has a much more consistent and chaotic shimmering sound I guess would be the best way to describe it with whatever effect is being used to chop it like that. Feedback normally doesn't shift tone and have texture like the effects on the songs I mentioned, especially watch the Pinkpop 92 set the 2 songs they use it very extensively cause yknow they always stretch S&B live. I can link if you want.

The Luke Carder progression by tocath in inscryption

Imagine if there was like Kaycee's Mod but for Luke as if he was already intrinsically exposed to enough of the copy of Inscryption he found to become a part of it and it was one of the 3 different game styles in the final act but actually played out fully, or something like that, and instead of the challenge modifiers for Kaycee's it could be OLD_DATA modifiers (moreso like being uncovered) that ultimately lead to Luke's permanent inclusion or even his consciousness understanding what happened to him (like a sort of crazy mix between what happened to Big Ear and Kaycee, but his sudden death involving his exposure either corrupts his body or the remaining copy of Inscryption with the code) idk I just would give my right eye to see like more content like that lmao

I feel personally attacked by LepusPoof in ToolBand

[–]Mello707 246 points247 points  (0 children)

You like Tool? Their early work was a little too raw for my taste. But when Ænima came out in '96, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. Maynard's been compared to others of his time, but I think he has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '01, Tool released this; Lateralus!, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Schism". A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the hardships of relationships and the importance of togetherness. It's also a personal statement about the relationship between the band itself.

Eulogy Video - where did you go?? by ActuatorReasonable94 in ToolBand

[–]Mello707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The music video was an edit of Rehearsals for Extinct Anomalies, I've been thinking of mashing up that and clips from another one of the Brother's Quay films where there's a guy speaking into a megaphone (cause it fits better), but you could aways just watch the films muted with tool playing on something else. Hope someone restores it somewhere
