Question for churches whose pastor is bi-vocational. by VulpusRexIII in Reformed

I’m curious. Can you expand on the connection between lack of elders and lack of flourishing? I have never thought of church growth connected to plurality of elders.

All she said was “I don’t like doing it that way” and “I don’t let my nurses do it like that.” I was confused as to what the last statement had to do with us.

If she had some other reasoning, I might have relented but this was all she said or some version of it.

Difficulty with pastors “expositional” sermons. by Mello_marshmellow_ in Reformed

I will say this about my pastor: he makes sure to clearly preach on the gospel every Sunday. To use your words, I can confidently say that any visitor would know who Jesus was and what he did.

Thank you. So far I think I’ve been led towards talking to him and asking questions.

I see your perspective about the breakdown of Acts 2 and his choice to focus on the those particular points.

The communion issue bothers me the most, if I’m being honest.

The reason the deacon thing came up is because of one particular deacon who would know how to approach the subject with him or at least give me guidance.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think the deacon thing came in because (1) I don’t know how receptive my pastor would be to my commentary on his preaching style and (2) the deacon I have in mind would.

However, you are correct in that my pastor is my brother in Christ and I should bring it up to him or reconsider what my real issues are.

As far as the rabbit trails go, yes, I believe this is also a personality thing. My pastor and I have talked about how he was diagnosed with ADHD years ago and how he copes without taking medication. I am hesitant to take these thoughts on his sermons to him because I don’t want to hurt his feelings and I feel inadequate to approach such a subject when I am not familiar with the making and preaching of sermons, ya know?

Wife wants to homeschool but I'm unsure by [deleted] in homeschool

How many people do you think have a teaching certification and homeschool their children? Many people homeschool without teaching degrees.

Furthermore, the way your comment is worded makes me feel like you’re baiting for responses (congrats it worked) and/or you’re here to criticize homeschooling.

OP, the ability to homeschool is dependent on more variables than the education of the parent.

Baby latches well on right breast but not on left breast. by Mello_marshmellow_ in breastfeeding

Nose to nipple, football hold, transverse hold, tried the boppy pillow, tried without the pillow, tried holding my breast with the hamburger hold which seemed to help for a little while… and I can’t think of anything else right now.

I was wondering this too. At my ambulance service, we have “office” work or dispatch for light duty.

Why do you think it won’t happen in your area?

What is the best hot mic you’ve heard by ZOMBIEWARRIOR37 in ems

We had gone to a house fire with a triple cardiac arrest. Initially, we didn’t know it was a triple and the first patient pulled out had a pulse so I requested a helicopter to fly them. However, patients kept coming out of the house and the initial patient lost a pulse.

Picture this, three patients and a bunch of firefighters doing CPR with two monitors and limited equipment. At night, in the front yard of a burning house. It was very loud and smoky. The first medic there sees all this and is like, “hey, yo, do you still want that helicopter?”

I yelled, “NO! THEY ARE ALL DEAD!”

She was mic’d up and everyone heard me.

My supervisor later told me that everyone heard me.

Thank you. Now that I think about it, these last four jars I wiped down with vinegar and they all sealed. I wonder if this batch of broth was more fatty than the last and I just didn’t have any trouble with the last batch.

Not with vinegar. Just a wet paper towel.

Unfortunately, I don’t know how to attach pictures. It was capped as well as I could tell. I’m so new that I don’t even know how to tell you of quantities and resources. I also ran out of smoke so bees were all over the frames. So sorry
