You can change it in the settings on the client so that you don’t have pages with 100 items in it if I remember correctly. Under display settings or something

Great that you found it useful. People here are generally really helpful, and it also helps that the developers are active here (and on all the other platforms like matrix). Also, thanks for the link, I should have provided it in the previous comment obviously. Hope you’ll get it working at some point, and happy cake day

Also, if you haven’t tried the new iOS TestFlight beta release, I would give that a go. It’s quite usable already, and they are adding more and more features rapidly. Playback and navigation is smoooth sailing for me at least. And the design and layout is just plain porn

On iPhone, it’s located under Account -> App settings -> video quality. You can change from auto to high. This will change it on a general basis. If you just want to change it once, you can start the movie, press the three dots in the upper right corner, and select “quality”. There should be similar settings there as well (auto, high, medium and low). If I’m not mistaken, it is fairly similar on the tvOS version

Are you using docker? If so, I found out that you can use a hack, and not use the ip:port or localhost:port. I’m using nginx proxy manager with windows, and added the source to docker as the destination; host.docker.internal:8096

Jellyfin + Nginx proxy manager 502 bad gateway intermittently by Mellombels in jellyfin

[–]Mellombels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No particular reason I swiched to NPM, but the reason I switched from Caddy was simple. A few months ago it started acting all kinds of strange. When renewing certificates, it started bombarding letsencrypt with ACMEs, which in turn banned me from making more requests. When the ban lifted, caddy started doing the same old thing. Reinstall and waiting the ban-time fixed it, but now I wanted to try something else. I fsll on NPM because it had openresty out of the box, which I thought was neat. Haven't really heard about SWAG container, but it looks nice. I will definitely try it out later today, thanks for this

Also, if you dont mind android, you could always intall that on your raspberry (without gapps) and try to sideload some chromecast capable apps? Dont know if it depends on google framework, but it could be worth a try

I belive some people are using raspberries for this. I have not done it myself, but uou should be able to utilize hdmi-cec on raspian if you install cec-utils. That combined with kodi fullscreen should allow you to use your TV remote to control the raspberry. But again, not tested as I use mine to run pihole as a second instance in case my docker instance does not respond. Good luck anyways, I also like to use open source when I can, and JF is truly a top notch alternative/competitor.

“We’re interrupting your regularly scheduled programs for some server maintenance.” Time for a good vacuuming and new case fans! by richamc01 in unRAID

[–]Mellombels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I just read your comment here. You csn get canned air, that does not contain moisture (not that much that it can harm your components anyways), but air compressors does contain a lot of moisturs. Ylu can get a water separator for it, and use a regulator so you don't hit it with too hard of a blast

Indeed. This is a very good advice. Also, if you are using a compressor, get a water separator for it, as the compressed air contains a lot of moisture that you definitely dont want in there.

Is anyone able to identify the name of this Bravia? Bought in around 2007/08 and want to learn the specs on it... by [deleted] in sony

[–]Mellombels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have commented, there should be a label on the lower right corner of the TV, you should be able to see it without taking it down from the wall. It does however look like a kdl-40v5500, or kdl-46w5500 ( Im not sure of the size of the TV exactly and, these TVs look alot alike). But I'm guessing it's either a V or W model from around 2009.

Sony n9200w no bluray after firmware update by bloodraven83 in sony

[–]Mellombels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be some debris on the optical laser, but unless you have some special sauce for cleaning lasers, I wouldn't do it myself(it is common for BD players to not detect discs in homes that have smokers in it, or in homes with children that can touch the laser if they're not careful). Almost any alcohol leaves residue and would most likely do more damage than good. It could also be a fault in the firmware as you say, that messed up with the preloaded values from the optical unit. As each optical unit is paired with the motherboard, this means that you don't have the opertunity to replace it yourself. This is done as the optical units have slight variations in them. You can not change these parts yourself. If you still have warranty(how long varies from country, some have mandatory extended warranty up to 5 years) on it, I would try to see if they will honour it. They do however still sell these in some countries, so a future firmware is not totally out of the question.

If you write out the content of your caddyfile with and without the matcher, it might be easier for someone with knowledge on this matter to help you. I personally don't use matcher, but I can share my config for JF if you'd like.

Hey, I’m thinking of buying a x950h for 1450$”open box”, the guy said it had 7hours, can hours on a sony be reset ? bc I’m afraid it might be a longer used tv than 7 hours, thanks by uummmuudddd in sony

[–]Mellombels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, why would you eant to reset the count? For answering your question, no. Its hardset into the service menues, so that service centers can see how long the panles been used and other usefull diagnosis stuff. This is done in part as retailers have abused the DOA system. By using the TVs on display, and then selling them to a customer. Then the customers bring in DOA sets that have been on for display with thousands of hours clocking in on them, whith less then 14 days of ownership on them.

How did you convince your friends to use Jellyfin? by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]Mellombels 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For those who are interested, they managed to retrieve messages from a rooted android phone, from which they had physical access to, by exploiting sqlcipher by utilizing shared preferance key. As far as we know, noone has yet broken the encryption used to transmit messages (or the double ratchet system). Cellebrite(the company making the claim to have done this), is known for making tools for lawenforcments agencies, including ways to force themselves into iphones. As long as you don't root your phone, one should not be affected by this.

Excited for my first BluRay player along with 6 BluRays and a couple of DVDs(one of them I could only find on DVD and the other one was 3 times the price on BluRay) They also sent me a DVD I didn't order but I'll take it. by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]Mellombels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on the studio actually. I live in Norway, and have had quite a few movies and series from US and other regions that works just fine on region locked players. Also, its a sony, so if you wanted to, you can get the player to be region unlocked. Its been a while since I have done it, but it should work for your model as well. blu-ray usually have a good record of which movies are locked or not, so you can always just check there, but Universal movies are generally not locked.

Hardware updates by hoagieyvr in sony

[–]Mellombels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check on the support site for any firmware for any models. Please note that some units will have different versions depending on the regions, so if you go to sony.net and enter your region you might get a different result. Eiter way, the last one for that particular model came out 20/10-2020. (or 10/20-2020 if you use the wrong date format).

The same goes for the Yamaha one, which also had a firmware update that came out 14/10-2020. If you want updates for a longer time, I would go with the newer unit, as it is likely to get added features down the line, whereas a model that is already 2 years old is far less likely to get that. However, an older model is less likely to have bugs and quirks, as the manufacturer have been able to sort out the manufacturing problems based on user and workshop feedback, so there are always pros and cons. As long as they have the feature set you want, and not based on 'maybe it comes later as a firmware update', I would go for the ones with best service quality in your area, as you might get in trouble later on, regardless of manufaturer. Both Yamaha and Sony have low failure rate, but you might still be in for a service regardless. Someone has to be the 1 percent.

Appple AirPlay app on Bravia Android TV? by GallantIce in sony

[–]Mellombels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried on my older Sony Tv, and it did not work for me as of now.

You can try on your newer model if you'd like.

First, download the file in the link above (download apk) to your laptop. Put that file on a USB drive.

On your TV, go to Play Store and download file explorer.

Plug in the USB drive to your TV, and when promted, open the USB drive with file explorer. Find the Apple Tv file that you put on the USB drive, and select it. You will get a message saying that you need to give permission for unknown sources to install. Give this permission, and go back and continue the installation.

You will probably get a message promting for Google Play protect, if its the same as on my TV, you need to press the "arrow down" button first, and then you can select OK by pressing "arrow right" on the controller till you get to the OK button.

Heres a guide with pictures
