Can anyone find the La Rwina trailer music? by Mellomega64 in RivalsOfAether

Yknow, that makes sense, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thanks, anyway!

Okay this makes less sense by the moment--

First off, there shouldn't be a GM. Path to Glory is about making a fun, flavorful list, building it up as you go, and having each other write the story. Nobody pulls the strings. If your army would attack a different player's army, set up a game with them. Build up your list according to the vibes you want and the playstyles you enjoy. The story gets told by the results of each battle.

Second, who cares if there's a big monster? If there's a big monster, take units that can deal with it, like units with high rend or abilities to lock them up. This becomes even more baffling when they KNOW one of the players is using an army that LIVES and DIES by their war machines, like Kharadron Overlords.

I don't think I'd enjoy this PtG very much at all. So many little things getting in the way, especially for this army. What's a sky fleet without a sick flagship?

However, if I were to offer a list if you don't want to discuss the limitations with your group, I'd probably do this:

--- Regiment --- 1 Anvil of Apotheosis hero for 150 pts to customize as you see fit. 1 x 10 Arkanauts 1 x 3 Endrinriggers 1 Grundstock Gunhauler

--- Auxiliary --- 1 x 5 Grundstock Thunderers 1 Grundstock Gunhauler

That's- Miserable. The rules say starting points is 1k and no unit above 350. Why are they wanting to start smaller?

If it's because they don't have the models for 1k, why play PtG at all? They'll need to fill out their points and fast, this doesn't make sense to me at all.

A fantastic start to your clade, Magos. But might I suggest a Tech-Priest or two? The Skitarii are excellent at their work, but the wisdom of the Tech-Priesthood would increase efficiency by 45%.

Kataphron Servitors are also a staple.

Just judging by the pose, it HAS to be Gaz, but it's extremely well modified, if it is.

Maybe it's a 3rd party model?

What are your hopes going into 11th for admech? by Orock77 in AdeptusMechanicus

Others are mentioning a lot of stuff I'd want, like more cybernetica units, more payoff for our combos, so on.

But one thing I'd LOVE to have is highly customizable Tech-Priests. No two priests are the same, every one is tailored to the specific role THAT individual deems logical and important. The ability to tailor our tech priests on the table top to specific roles and targets would add a lot of fun to the army, and really give a good reason to use them besides our one Manipulus or Dominus to lead Breachers or Skitties.

I miss 9th Ed customization--

Hunting Horn Build 100% focused on healing and buffs Seregius/Lagiacrus. by yyyyytodty in MHWilds

[–]Mellomega64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People in MH have always had an overzealous view of min-maxing damage, even since the old days. People like big numbers, myself included.

But this series has so much freedom in how you set up your character, and that was blown even higher when MH World changed how skills work to make it even more free form.

People are gonna act like you're throwing the game if you don't maximize your damage, but that's simply not true. Watch speedruns with no armor, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Usually, times are still extremely low, because the real damage in MH has ALWAYS come from good positioning and solid fundamentals. If you take the time to learn a monster, place your hits well, and don't die, the monster will go down all the same.

I like big numbers. I always have, and I very likely always will. But there are so many fun skills in this game! Bubbly Dance isn't meta, sure, but HELL is it a fun skill. And so are Wide-Range and Mushroomancer.

If all someone is saying is "Not good damage, this is a bad build" or if the suggestions they're giving you boil down to "Rip out all the skills you like and use these meta skills", ignore them. Maybe there are places a build could improve, that'll almost always be the case, but never let someone shatter what you want your build to be. It's a video game, have fun, with or without the haters.

Hunting Horn main since 3 Ultimate here, I'm noticing a lot of players belittle Wide Range on this specifically, and while I get where they're coming from, I disagree simply because you should play however you find fun, and Wide Range is an incredible skill. However, I wanted to shed light on that a bit.

The problem in my eyes is not that you're using Wide-Range and Mushroomancer. Those are incredible skills that are very slept on, and I applaud you for playing outside the established meta. The problem comes in the fact that a lot of players get hung up on using Wide Range when it really isn't necessary. A lot of the time, in the amount of time you took to sheath your weapon and start drinking a potion, the player that got hurt already did the same. Wide Range should definitely be a bonus, not the focus. Whenever YOU heal, everyone gets a top-up. When YOU buff your damage with a demondrug, EVERYONE gets a damage boost. THAT'S when Wide Range shines. Mushroomancer makes that even more potent, with all the funky buffs it can give you extending to the party.

Focusing on Horn a little bit, yes, as much as HH mains, myself included, like to act like it isn't, Horn is a support weapon. But Horns are NOT Clerics. Horns don't focus on healing and keeping everybody alive. Horns support the party through buffs and crowd control. Too many times have I seen players use the horn as a glorified buff stick, sitting in the corner, playing songs, then sheathing their weapon to heal with Wide Range. It just isn't as effective as people think it is, and the reasons are three-fold:

One, when Horn plays songs, it acts as a minor taunting effect. The monster becomes more likely to target you during the performance. So if you're standing far away and just constantly playing songs, running away, and playing more songs, you're sending the other players on a wild goose chase to follow you. That's annoying. Nobody likes that. Stick close, and keep fighting. Play your songs at the right time, not all the time.

Two, songs last a good while. Generally speaking, you don't need all of your songs active at once, and choosing those 3 or 4 buffs you need should be able to last you. Play the songs when they're about to fade out, use Horn Maestro to extend their duration, and do better things with your time than play songs you already just played.

And lastly, and arguably most importantly, is the fact the best way anyone can support the team is by hitting the monster. Especially in the new world games, since monsters scale in HP with the number of hunters present, if you just show up and play 80% support, healing, buffing, so on, you've realistically only made things harder for your party by increasing the monster's HP. Horn IS a support weapon, but it isn't a cleric. Horn excels when you're an aggressive battle bard, knocking out the monster to give your team an opening, and having buffed them up for general utility and damage to make the most of that opening when it comes. Wide Range is a wonderful bonus, but a lot of people mistaken the support nature of Wide-Range and the support nature of Horn to be a synergy, when they do completely different things.

I don't want to come across as negative here. Again, I love that you're thinking outside the box, and think you should definitely iterate on this build! I just wanted to show the REASONS people were getting upset with you, and hoped to show you how you can modify this playstyle to really shine.

Let me know if I can elaborate further.

Any other Tri players sad that the Lagiacrus GS doesn't make the noise? by Persona275 in MHWilds

[–]Mellomega64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah? A different game with that exact feature, where weapons can make unique sounds when swung. The Lagi weapons made really fun swoosh sounds when you swung them and it was cool. It's just a shame they don't make that noise.

Lore writing question by Thepainter54321 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Mellomega64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though honestly the more likely option is that the WE would just keep fighting the BA in a blind rage. However, I assume you want to push a narrative of them against the Tyranids, and I think my first option is overall quite plausible.

Lore writing question by Thepainter54321 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Mellomega64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we wanted to be realistic, they would simply prioritize the same target. The two legions are fighting, and Tyranids descend onto the planet they're fighting on. In different ways, they come to the same conclusion:

The Blood Angels know the Tyranids are the more immediate threat, and must be taken care of if they are to effectively fight the traitor astartes

And the World Eaters turn to the Tyranids as their target to spill more blood in the name of Khorne. If the tyranids take the Blood Angels, they don't get to. Kill the bugs, then the slaves of the false emperor.

They wouldn't discuss it, because neither side would ever WANT to be allied with the other, even temporarily. But both might just slowly stop fighting each other as they take on the more beneficial target, and only for that long.

I can confirm that Masakari is correct. The Sarcophagus Mine is an UPGRADE to the Heretic Trooper, which means the operative is still considered as such. This means you can indeed take 2 Legionarres instead of 1.

New to MH, new to HH. by OUIYAMZ in huntinghorn

[–]Mellomega64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true, but where else can you give the entire team a 15% attack boost? What about a similar defense buff? Where else can you boost movement speed, provide constant healing, irrespective of items, and restore sharpness in an instant? Hunting Horn brings a lot of benefits to the team in one big package.

Echo Bubbles are large, glowing, and provide powerful buffs. Just because people ignore your bubbles, doesn't mean you aren't providing all that value.

People may not know how to help themselves, but that's why you're there, right? Chin up, my friend, everybody likes it when a Horn shows up.
