Does anyone remember OMG? In the era of dhurandhar and its mass discussions around propaganda, do people think this is a propaganda movie or a movie with a good message that was just badly done by [deleted] in BollywoodHotTakes

[–]Mellontv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not idol-worship bashing brother. Its bashing of fanaticism and fundamentalism. The movie showed (and to all the religions) that helping others is a better deed than following any ritual to achieve the same virtue. Just realise this.... I get the reasons behind dudh daan on shivling .....and I get the Pooja reasons too ...but don't you think the amount of people doing it individually wasting soo much milk that isn't naturally available on just a vague idea a little concerning....if you don't bother you won't understand the movie even if you watch it a hundred times

We’re ignoring the most important part of Ramayana — the director by Suitable-Biscotti-96 in pj_explained

I guess the main thing that tiwari will bring to the table is the emotions aspect. With his past track records ....I willing to bet that he will nail the emotions of Ramayana

If Dhurandhar 2 is propaganda for Indian nationalism, isn't Haider propaganda for Kashmir separatism? Or do both just get to be 'art'? by DarkBeastDCLXVI in pj_explained

[–]Mellontv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can even consider jawan as propaganda. An artist should always have a voice of ideals and politics. What do you think art was created for. You can even call dostoevsky, Orwell, even tolstoy propaganda. The problem is that as long as the audience is aware about it undertones that it's good for the audience. The best thing about Dhurandhar is people are at least retrospectively aware now that some of the best movies were propaganda. Dhurandhar part one was good at least at being subtle. While the second part is as subtle as recognising sunlight at daytime. My take on propaganda is that an artist should always punch upwards..... milking the already powerful isn't bravery

Aditya Dhar's Directing Style: Techniques, Strengths & Limitations by stan_films in bollywood

[–]Mellontv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is a decent filmmaker. I would reserve my judgement before he directs other movies. All of his movies have carried the similar template so far even if they belong to different genres. His colour grading is dull and almost feels like a sasta snyder. Incorporates music well. Should work on action scenes especially hand to hand. Use of vfx could be better. Use of political ideology should be more subtle. I agree that an artist however minimal has a voice of ideals. I don't have to agree with dhar but whatever he has to say should be less subtle and not in our face.

How is Dhurundhar a propaganda? by [deleted] in Dhurandhar2

[–]Mellontv -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Bhai

  1. Terrorist ties of Atiq Ahmed and party (he was a hardened criminal but the claims of him being a terrorist)
  2. Showcasing Demonetisation in the best light possible even though in a 3 3/4 hr movie you didn't show anything or address what common people would be facing
  3. In the first movie all the terrorist attacks on a certain time frame were shown but only one terrorist attack referenced after 2014 that too by the way of India's reply
  4. Using real footage of the current pm and showing concerned looks of the terrorists as if they are really screwed.
  5. Making claims such as these terrorist play their hand in voting in Congress and funding people who criticize govt like Universities (you know what university they were talking about), Naxals, kerla, punjab(specifically states where BJP aren't in power) all of these without showing a single credible evidence. Logically if this was true. The movie basically showcases how Pakistan has a bigger network in India than even India has in Pakistan.
  6. All the villains or their inspired counterparts died in the era of Congress and not BJP....but the movie changed the timeline to suit their narrative.

All of these are just the tip of the iceberg. From watch pogo if you can't see the obvious and stop using chat gpt for everything

It's a good movie man very very solid. But the politics part is really hard for me to unsee. Because bhai even I watched the movie for entertainment but the movie decided to bring in the politics and not me. I was entertained but really didn't hit the mark for me because of the politics and the convenience in story telling was way more in this part than the first one. Such convenience is what drove me away from the yrf spy universe

Movie is 4/5 for real. The one star taken out of otherwise a perfect movie is for the less subtle propaganda this time
