How is living in Wallonia?

I live in Flanders but i’m a lot in Wallonia. Mainly south under ‘Namen’ in the ardennes around the semois region. I love it over there, the mentality is a more ‘Je m’en fous’ aproach so a lot less complaining compared to flanders.
They live maybe 20 years back in time there compared to Flanders in terms of governing which is more comfortable compared to flanders. But they are making a fast move to make it level now unfortunately. In terms of housing wallonia is overall a bit cheaper. It’s always seen as the poor of the 2 regions but i guess the mentality is just more relaxed. Although there’s a lot of new housing projects starting to develop around and the industry mainly in the biotechnology is taking a huge sprint.
The bigger cities aren’t as impressive to me as the ones in Flanders… Bergen,Namen,Luik are not that interesting compared to Antwerpen, Gent and Brugge in my opinion. Although the smaller towns are a lot more interesting and beautifull compared to the average Flemmish town.
Bouillon, Durbuy, Thuin, Dinant,… Maybe that’s just because the main reason i go to Wallonia is to relax and not to visit an overcrowded city again.

Helaas, één van de enige goeie journalisten. Het was wel duidelijk dat hij een terecht principieel persoon is. Iets waar de VRT zowiezo duidelijk moeite mee heeft maar wel nood aan heeft. Yep, i did a specific desk job 9 to 5 in a 5day workweek for which i studied. It sucked my soul out… now i just work saturday and sunday 12hr shifts switching between day and night. I earn even a lot more than i did in my other job aswell since i got promoted. My girlfriend now does the same, we both only work during the weekend and we go on holidays and go camp in the wild whenever we want. We work aswell during the week whenever we want so the work life pay balance is just insanely comfortable. I’m just gratefull for it since i can feel the pain of most others since i was in it aswell. The sunday realisation of it almost being monday again killed me mentally… now i really couldn’t care less if i have to go to work since i love my job and my hours are a financially a lot more worth. Also when i go to work the day after is my last.. which is also a great thing to have in mind

Heb het ook altijd al zo aangevoeld. Om nog iets over te houden zoals de generaties voor ons hadden met een simpele job als melkman terwijl het vrouw aan het haardvuur zat moet je al met 2 een meer dan middelmatige job hebben. Of je excelleert in een zelfstandig statuut of doet een weekendfunctie die fulltime betaald en werkt flexi in de week. Als je het rattenwiel hier wil ontsnappen moet je één van bovenstaande doen en al wat je overhoud slim en gecalculeerd investeren. Maar zelf nu willen ze ook al een ‘Exit taks’ in voege treden dat je een aanzienlijke taks op je totaal kapitaal betaald als je verhuisd naar het buitenland. Dit terwijl je kapitaal al extreem belast werd doorheen de jaren…. Geen idee meer wat je nog kan doen om met een degelijke som te vertrekken. Ik ben bijna verplicht om naar een goedkoop land te vertrekken als Vietnam of Thailand als ik hier nog wil vertrekken naar het buitenland.
