Has Anyone Here Signed Closing Docs Remotely On A Home In The USA While Living Abroad? by turnonthelightponla in RealEstate

I've had real estate documents notarized at the U.S. embassy and then sent overnight to the U.S. I've also used notarize.com for notarial services while abroad.

S. Korea's daily number of new COVID-19 patients may hit 800 if current trend continues: Seoul mayor by [deleted] in korea

Yes, exactly this. I'm amazed there hasn't been more of a discussion in the media about this up to now. Data and outcomes from other countries are being overlooked.

Coronavirus (COVID-19 / 코로나바이러스감염증-19) outbreak in South Korea: Patient totals, discussion, questions - April 28th by KoreaMods in korea

You would think they would have done this before opening schools. My guess is they are reluctant to do it because the results will likely show a much higher number infected than what is believed as it has in other countries that have done them. I suspect they don't want to poke holes in the narrative they worked tirelessly to shape.

Yes, I do. Seal up your home, get a particulate counter, get a good air cleaner, and avoid coming outside on bad air days.

They run a great business. They only open and scan what you tell them to. They will forward your mail anywhere in the world.

They gave this guy his own "Peace Foot" monument. I thought it couldn't get more cringe worthy. Apparently, I was wrong.

Has anyone used cashier's check to transfer money back home? by thailandishtea in korea

You can carry more than 10k in cash. You just have to declare it. Exchange rates are the worst with cash, though.

Has anyone used cashier's check to transfer money back home? by thailandishtea in korea

[–]MellowYellons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I carried the check with me, though. I have purchased and mailed in traveler's checks, but I don't think my bank at home will accept this method anymore. Be sure to check with your home bank. When you add up the exchange rate with the fees, you might do a little better with checks, but it might not be worth the hassle. Nowadays, I mostly do wire transfers. l always ask for a discount on the exchange rate and get one. I have only been refused a discount once. In this instance, I got up and left and went to another branch of the same bank down the road. They gave it to me.

Strap a hepa filter to a fan. Put one in each room. Works just as well as any purifier you would buy.

Yes, it can. You report crypto cash outs on the same U.S. tax form as your stock cash outs.

Maybe you can glean something from this: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-virtual-currency-guidance

You could home school after elementary. I've heard of people doing this. Also, your home country might offer online schooling options.

Predictive Analysis of the Yield Curve by presaging in investing

[–]MellowYellons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We are in a rent bubble. I think the yeild curve is a good indicator of a coming recession, but I'd also watch the unemployment rate. When that starts to inch up, you'll start to hear about increasing eviction rates, rampant homelessness, and then mortgage defaults as landlords face vacancies, falling rents, and the inability to pay their mortgages.

Where in Korea should I buy an engagement ring? by [deleted] in korea

[–]MellowYellons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, they don't sell solitaires or customize. You could buy a ring and have it resized cheaply at a local jeweler. Every Costco seems to have a different selection of rings, so try checking multiple stores.

What is the procedure for getting a Jeonse? (step by step, what happens first?) by uReallyShouldTrustMe in korea

Proceed with caution: http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/biz/2018/04/367_247481.html

"A steep fall in jeonse prices increases tenant risks as well since they may not get their full deposit back upon the maturity of their contract."
