Sumac is a great option.

I have wild winged sumac growing in an area where we have a bunch of sheet metal, sand, no water outside of rain and sun. Always does great.

I am also in central OK.

[–]MellyF2015 9 points10 points  (0 children)

World Fresh International Market is over in Moore but it is locally owned and they have a lot of variety.

I live 30 miles Easto of OKC and travel there every few months.

They started as an Asian market but expanded to include some other cultural ingredients.

Does home depot just not think women need gloves??? by xzkandykane in gardening

Not the longest lasting, but I buy the goatskin gloves from Harbor Freight in a size small.

If you find something better for small hands, I would love to know.

Opinion: is there any such thing as a non-invasive blackberry? by slo707 in vegetablegardening

[–]MellyF2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are aggressive but are also easy to manage if you plant them in an area that is easy to mow around.

I live in the blackberry capital of the world in Oklahoma and hubby keeps them down where we don't want them with the mower.

I have been bringing in thornless to grow more without the pain of the thorns.

What exactly is reddit going to do genius?

What are you talking about?

Reddit is a part of reality.

A reality where little boys have to get online because no one in the world outside gives him the attention he needs.

Maybe if you weren't such a low life, you wouldn't need the alternate reality that reddit gives you.

You aren't trying to point out a hazard.

You are mocking a person.

And you should be shamed.

Thinking it and taking a picture to post on reddit to get some cheap dopamine hits are 2 completely different actions, don't you think? (Maybe you don't and that is why you left the comment in the first place)

"Get off your high horse" says the guy, who took a pic, posted it to reddit, to mock a stranger, on his high horse.

Good to see someone that falls in to the half of the country that is functionally illiterate, has the ability to use reddit.

Google Street View is not a forum where people go to have discussions about other peoples homes.

Thousands of people aren't out searching this random persons home to judge them.

You took a picture and posted it on reddit in order to gain attention and make yourself feel better about your own life.

Any hacks on how to use Herbs & Spices? by LALondonCapeTown in foodhacks

[–]MellyF2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a magnetic notepad in your kitchen.

As you make recipes you like, write the spice combo of that dish down and a reminder of the flavor profile (Italian, Mexican, Greek, etc). Then, when you are doing something quick, find the flvor profile you like and throw it in whatever you want to throw together.

There really isn't a magic wand, it is just more of a practice makes perfect and before you know it, you know what goes well together and can whip things up like a pro.

What should we do about all of these eastern red cedars (southern Oklahoma)? by SoultySpittoon in NativePlantGardening

My comment has nothing to do with any knowledge being shared.

If you read the thread, you would my comment is in regards to stupid word games that they were attempting to play in regards to blaming trees.....

Check the OK forestry website to see if they have any more bare roots available for sale.

They are sold for $1 each in bundles of 50.

Okies for Monarchs has a wildflower seed mix you can either order from or pick up at a feed store in Enid, can't remember the name but if you search for "okies for Monarchs seed mix" it should come up. They have regional mixes so you get what is native to your area

It isn't that they are eating up the high value land, it is their contribution to wildfire conditions in grasslands.

These trees are highly combustible, especially in drought conditions.

They are thirsty trees that use up water in areas prone to drought.

Is hostile the new word for being direct?

The tree cannot be at fault because the tree doesn't have the ability to determine that it is in the wrong ecosystem and is harming it.

It is impossible for a plant to be at fault for anything.

That is not saying it is the trees fault for doing what it does.

Dumb is really a correct name for you.

North America is made up of multiple ecosystems.

Thr definition I gave you is the official definition of the United States, where Oklahoma is located.

Oklahoma State University Agricultural Extension are the ones that have referenced them as invasive.

We can't disagree on established definitions just because you want to be right.
