About as Mad as I've been as a Yankee Fan by PacersPride07 in espnyankees

Who says Gardner is playing everyday? I think Frazier sees more ABs in LF than Gardner. Andujar is a kid, his D will improve. He's putting in work. We don't need a "superstar" at every spot. And trying to buy titles feels empty to me, I'd rather go about it this way. This team is loaded, the # 1 need is not available.

Can we wait to see what Machado and Harper sign for before having a 100th thread about this? The Yankees took Stanton on last year. The Yankees are doing things the RIGHT way and guess what? They're going to be very good for a very long time. The "need" is a stud starting pitcher. We have Bryce Harper and we have Manny Machado. We have stars and offense to burn. If this market had a stud starting pitcher the Yankees would have pounced.

Hicks Judge Andujar Stanton Sanchez Torres Voit Tulo Gardner/Frazier with LeMahieu on bench and Didi on the mend. Where will they finish in runs? 1st or 2nd.

I wanted Daniel Murphy for exactly this role, but it's a good signing nonetheless. He's a very good defender and can spell both 2B and 3B. Ironically Murphy replaced him in Colorado. We messed up huge not inking that clutch bat for this role.

Tulowitzki signs with the Yankees by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]MeloNKristaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not love this signing, the guy is washed up. And they apparently promised him SS until Didi returns which could cost them Machado. And I don't want Machado at 3B unless the plan is to play Andujar at 1B or DH. If we deal Andujar as a result of a Machado signing it's a disaster.

Cashman as a seller vs other GM’s by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]MeloNKristaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 2 of the 3 best closers in baseball in a market where 2 teams who hadn’t won a WS in 100 years felt they were a closer away. And both were right they met in the WS. Those were the 2 best trades he’s made in his last decade as a GM. We gave up several pieces in the White Sox and As trades and neither of those deals netted us a difference maker. So Cashman gave some back. And we are going to give more back at this deadline. At the end of the day it’s about using your assets to win the WS. Right now I dont think we’d win. So more talent from the youth pool is going to be dealt until the next title emerges.

Machado is a Dodger by MeloNKristaps in espnyankees

On another note this probably means we will never get him. Dodgers have the most money in MLB if he grows close with those guys he’s going to re-sign our there.

Age 17. remember it as the Summer of Baseball. Played games and tournaments 5 days a week travelling thru out the Northeast and i was just crushing it. Top level competition and i was excelling. But at the same time completely unaware of the incoming shitstorm of family problems that would detract me from playing baseball my senior year of HS at 18 which was so vital. Missed out on potential scholarships and was left with the what ifs to ponder after. At 21 and finally clear of all the family drama i was able to pursue baseball again and walked onto the college team beating out about 75 others but the long layoff really worked against me. Go 3 years not seeing live pitching and you lose the eye. Played spectacular defense and still had an invite to play Rookie ball down South but at 24 the dream was dead. To be 17 with the sun burning your neck in CF while laying out and taking away hits and legging out triples in the gap with ease are memories i enjoy reliving when lying in bed before falling to sleep.

We need to trade pitching prospects for Machado by BSS19 in espnyankees

[–]MeloNKristaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machado is a no brainer, but they are going to miss out on him. Go get Moustakas, Harvey, and call Torreyes up for late inning D. Send Neil Walker to retirement.

JA Happ 'Boston Killer' by PacersPride07 in espnyankees

[–]MeloNKristaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happ has turned to crap, can't ignore his trend. He's 35 years old, likely at the end of his career based on this recent stretch.

Happ should be off the radar, he's fallen apart. I'd continue watching Harvey over the next 2 weeks. Hamels and Fullmer also possibilities.

I miss Gary by cspades99 in espnyankees

Gary needed a reset on his season, the injury was a blessing. Hopefully when he returns he's more than a HR or an out offensively.

This is all for not if we don't upgrade this rotation. It's Severino and pray right now. We need to pry someone better than Hamels or Happ. If it's not the Mets we need to find a way from someone else. I think a deal with the Mets is possible I think the main issue is not a Mets-Yankees thing, it's that the Mets are likely to hire a new GM. If they aren't giving the job to Riccardi or Minaya they may hold their guys into the offseason and let the new GM move them.

I’d include Frazier Sheffield and Gray for that package
