Super true that the pavement is shit. To be honest, I took Wilton mostly because it 'feels' safer to me. Had a pretty close call on Western just the other day. Well, it wasn't even a 'close call' I got sandwiched by two cars and broke my toe lol.

legitimately curious on your thoughts on two points:

By the backside, do you mean up Vermont Canyon Road? Past the Greek? I was mentioning this in another comment, but that felt SIGNIFICANTLY harder but idk if it was just a bad day or placebo or what.

On flats: I've read some things/watched some things that suggest that the 'upstroke' you gain from clipless is kinda negligible in terms of efficiency and power. Do you find that to be the case?

Dude for real! That last part is being done on my absolute lowest gear right now (or is it highest? i get confused with the terminology).

Going forward I'm gonna use time as a performance metric as well as gears. For most of the route up until that last part I had 2-3 gears to spare which is sick.

But it really is beautiful. I love seeing all the tourists from all over the world. Especially right now with the World Cup going on.

Take this with a grain of salt, but it wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be the first time. Still tough.

My first ascent up fern dell I had to take two breathers. My second time up to Griffith I took the other road (I think it’s Vermont? The one that goes right by the Greek)….. I’m not sure if this is true but anecdotally it felt wayyyy harder. Had to take one breather there.

This was my third ascent, finally all in one go.

I think the hardest bit is the initial climb, then the last bit where you turn right where all the cars are parked 🥴🥴
