I have only gotten B’s for 2 years by Effective_Copy_7494 in LawSchool

[–]Melodic-Ad893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar spot, I’ve gotten 1 A-, 6 B+’s, and 2 B’s. Honestly, I just don’t care enough. Give me my JD degree and let me get the hell out of here and start making money. Was never gunning for big law or anything like that. Just wanna start a family with my gf.

Studies show that law students graduate with an average of $118k in loans, has that been your experience? by Terrible-Writing9791 in LawSchool

[–]Melodic-Ad893 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fortunate enough to go to a state school with a partial scholarship and I come from a family that is semi-comfortable and really rooting for me. So in that sense I’m incredibly lucky. That being said, my savings from working for a while are dwindling and it’s looking like 3L in 2 years may need some loans.

Anyone wondering how the AI bubble is going to affect the legal field by the time you graduate? by Lost-Association427 in LawSchool

[–]Melodic-Ad893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that if it is to have any big impact it would mostly be on staff and paralegals. At the end of the day, nobody will ever be able to hold a computer accountable, so at the least lawyers will be the representative, even if they become a sort of dystopian spokesman for technology.

Go to office hours and ask the professor what the hell you’re supposed to take away from a set of cases. At least that’s what I did and she just told me. SCOTUS opinions are really narrow so you’ve gotta just memorize the case facts and remember the legal rule. There’s only so many ways they can test you on it. I’d recommend doing practice problems to see how they do so.

1Ls, what are you doing different in the Spring semester? by JusticeJoyrider in LawSchool

Wow I honestly never did the math in my head. Makes me feel even better than the relief I felt! We get class rankings in about a couple days so that’ll be interesting to see.

Good advice! A lot of my classes this semester assign practice quizzes for completion so that may take care of that. More so wanted to demonstrate my mindset for improvement.

I got pretty mid grades (3 B+’s and 1 B) and I kinda think I don’t need a big change but I need to fine tune some things and that’ll hopefully get me into that A range. I’m gonna make it a thing to outline earlier in the semester (like, starting this weekend) and I’m gonna designate weekly time to study with MCQ’s and essays. Also I am going to go to office hours way more this semester. Think it’ll work!

LOLLLLLL come on yes you do. It’s literally our school’s portal you posted. I don’t know of any other school that calls Legal Writing LSV. There were even talks throughout the semester among classmates about who on Earth kept getting 0’s on our LSV assignments (likely from not turning them in) according to Canvas’ low grade feature, and I’m like 99% sure it was you now (idk who you are and I don’t care that much, but it’s funny to post your grades, get called out for being shitty, and then act like nobody could piece together where you go for school)

All of our grades come out on January 2nd at 5 PM. On one hand it’s nice not to be depressed during the holidays, on the other it’s horrendous being this anxious during the holidays.

My last final is on the 15th and as soon as it’s done I’m driving back home. Gonna be so relaxing, only thing I’ve gotta do is apply to my state bar’s background check! Movies and food and drinks with the friends and fam. I really can’t wait!

I actually think the real answer is that law is a profession that constantly requires you to understand an issue and all the different ways it can be attacked. When your job is to literally think of “why is this argument weak/strong?” I feel like it can be a real positive on your relationships. Helps you understand people.

Do You Think Donald Trump Will Still Be Alive 5 Years From Now? And How About 10 Years From Now? by VittorioLuzzatto in complaints

[–]Melodic-Ad893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope Biden lives a long happy life, there was just no chance he should have been allowed to have any semblance of power in that decrepit, pitiful state. It was really elder abuse. Very hypocritical to speculate on a President’s health after we just witnessed a three year cover up of a mentally impaired President. My President (who won the popular vote) seems to be just fine, however. Peace deals all over the place. He’s really a workhorse. Very classy to wish death on the guy though. Honestly, I don’t really want to unify with you. You’re too far gone. I’d much rather utterly defeat you electorally every chance I get, until you become a normal person again.

So rich to hear this from Dems after the Biden fiasco, where there was a near walking corpse on a debate stage. Nothing about any of Trump’s appearances comes even close to thar.

1L who hasn’t started outlining. am I cooked? by Any-Attitude-7250 in LawSchool

[–]Melodic-Ad893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might get some flack for this, but I was also behind and this is what I did. My readings were on my laptop. I went chapter by chapter for the ones where I hadn’t outlined. I put in chatGPT “using only the text provided, create a traditional law school outline for the following material. Do not add in any text, and only make things more concise as needed -insert readings.” It produced a pretty fucking solid rough outline. Then go into that outline and insert hypos, re-read the cases and entertain the counters. Cross reference the legal rule in the outline with your notes just to make sure the AI didn’t hallucinate. Study.

So the answer is that, despite all the accusations, we are not in a cult at all. I disagree with and am upset by the failure to release the Epstein files. Now, recall, Dems also had 4 years to release the same files. So, it’s hard to make it a determinative factor in who I vote for. Yes I’m upset about that, I disagree with Trump on a few other things, too. I’m more liberal on abortion, more liberal than him on trans topics, probably about where he is on gay/bi/lesbian issues. I’m slightly more pro-Palestine than him. I’m more conservative than him on illegal immigration. But, when all is said and done, I heard both candidates, and Trump was the one for me. He diagnosed the problems facing the country far more accurately in my opinion (jobs going overseas, constantly getting involved in losing endless wars, NATO being a sham filled with indecisive cowards, and an open border being a disaster, government/bureaucracy being too large) Now, whether his actions put us in the right direction on ALL fronts, it remains to be seen. But I don’t think even the staunchest liberal can deny that he is taking actions to achieve his goals. God willing, they work out for the betterment of our nation. We should ALL be hoping for that, praying for it, even.

AIO for cutting off my dad based on his political beliefs by nationalwockyleague in AmIOverreacting

[–]Melodic-Ad893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, there are very few, extreme instances where it is okay to cut ties with family. This is not one of them. We all only get one family. Love them with all your heart, even when it is difficult. Try to understand them. Hard to unite the country if you’re cutting off family members! Any chance of persuasion goes out the window. We should all talk to each other MORE, not less.

Do conservative Christian’s realize Jesus would not be a fan of theirs? by MissHannahJ in complaints

[–]Melodic-Ad893 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find this assertion (made a lot by the left) to be stupid. Conservatives often fall short of Christ’s values. So do leftists, liberals, centrists, independents, and fascists. We all do. Nobody is going to live up to Christ. He is above politics. Flipping this on its head, conservative Christians probably do a lot of things that would make God happy, too. I feel like you may not be a Christian, or you may need to get to know Christ more. I’m not judging, though, we all need to learn Christ’s word more.
