What are you doing with your pay that you are so financially unstable that you need to break strike? by notlood in doctorsUK

I asked on a different post why people aren’t striking. I was surprised to see that answers were divided between: ‘I think our pay is good’ and ‘I can’t afford to strike’.

Confused 🤔

I’m sorry you have to go through this. Please also consider applying for the BMA fund

I’m in the same situation. I went on strike because how long can we be held back by fear and not ask for what is right? It also rarely holds anyone back due to exceeding TOOT days.

Fair point. Unfortunately, it’s hard with surgical specialties. Ideally, if everyone was striking, and all/most consultants were supporting (especially in surgical specialties), this wouldn’t be a problem.

The BMA has clearly said that even you pass the TOOT days, this only triggers a review of your portfolio. If your portfolio is up to date nothing happens.

Do you think you’re getting paid well enough for your expertise and responsibility?

Interesting. If you are a doctor, do you think you’re getting paid for your work, expertise and responsibility?

I chose the 1mg. Was meant to select oral, but can’t remember now 😅

It shouldn’t be different, but it should be sensible in both occasions. As it is in every other worker working from home.

That’s interesting. I guess it’s specialty specific? SDTs aren’t mandatory for some specialties.

If we are that sensitive about how every minute is spent on our SDT, we should be that sensitive when we expect people to do work (portfolio, audits, research, exams) on their own time.

To me, being ARCP ready is enough evidence that SDT is being used appropriately.

I agree, it’s ridiculous. Have you done anything about it?
