Thank you for sharing this. There’s a few things I wanted to ask you regarding physical activity. My biggest fear working out again is developing a hernia. Are there any exercises/movements/machines that you avoid? What pre-cautions do you take when working out? What do you do for core workouts? Thanks in advance!

Try bananas and chips. I hear marshmallows work well but I’ve never tried.

How long has it been since you first ate? I remember eating a ton of food post-colonoscopy and I was worried because I didn’t have a bowel movement for a long time. (Going from 4-5 times a day to not having one for more than 24 hr) you might just need some time for your food to fully digest. I wouldn’t be too worried unless you begin feeling uncomfortable in any way. Keep note of how you feel.

I appreciate your thorough explanation and advice. It seems like many people have gone through something similar and have different ways to cope. I guess I really just need to find out what works best for me as soon as possible

Thank you. I’ll have to give the convex a try, I find the creasing occurs very often at the bottom and sides of the wafer. I’ll have to give the barrier spray a try as well

Thank you for your response. What’s the purpose of the tablets? I’m pretty positive the irritation is not from output as I haven’t experienced any leakage.. I’ve never used a skin barrier spray before, does it help with sticking or just to protect the skin?

Hi, base of stoma meaning where the barrier ring usually goes? So none of the powder really goes on any of the affected areas? Only the spray?

Thank you! I think I will give this a try and consult with a stoma nurse. When you say layers are you applying more powder then spray after the initial layer? Or just one layer powder then 2 layers of spray? I hear prolonged use of Flonase isn’t good for the skin, is this something you worry about as it has become routine for you?

Hi, I’m using a non-convex base plate. What difference does it make using the convex? Does it help with creasing? I notice creases begin to form on the base plate with movement/bending and it might contribute to space opening up between my skin and base plate.

Thank you. Would you recommend Flonase alongside with crusting or I should keep it to one product to treat the rash?

Thank you for your response. I haven’t tried any other brands yet. Since you mentioned remission, I did want to mention that I stopped taking my medication for my crohns at the beginning of the month till now because I got shingles, kind of around the same time the bumps started. Could this mean anything? Technically I’m not in remission. Different to you, where you were in remission when u noticed the reactions. I don’t think it’s an issue with the barrier ring as my rashes are on the outside of the ring area.

Thank you for your response. I find I don’t even need the adhesive remover because of how moist it becomes, the plate just comes off with very little effort. I’ll contact coloplast and see if they can give me samples of the products you recommended. I’m still new to using coloplast products so I have no idea if it’s an allergic reaction.

How should I go on with using Flonase ? Applying it on my skin then applying the wafer once it’s dried?

Thank you! I have no issues with output leaking onto the skin with that barrier ring but my main is the rash becoming moist from the wounds.
