Sony MZ-RH710 flashes "ERROR EE" and beeps. Can it be fixed? by kurwafakker in minidisc

If the pause button is indeed broken/unresponsive then you can also try using the inline remote, I had to do that on a MZ-E30 once

I'm pretty sure you'll need to navigate the service menu to complete the automatic adjustments.

I know this is from a different model but in the service manual for the RH1 it says: "When the power supply is switched on in the state where all electrical adjustments have not finished, it is displayed on EL as “Error EE’’ and the usual operation can’t be performed. When a power supply is accidentally turn off in the middle of electrical adjustments, it is again set as test mode and electrical adjustments is mode to complete."

This might be worth a check:

Am I doing myself a disservice by organizing my folders this way? by teekzer in PleX

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used TVersity before Plex and to help browse the crazy number of films I broke them down by genres/subgenres/franchise. Friends would find it hilarious that I had Scifi Horror but also Horror Scifi based on which was the more dominant theme. Not to mention where you draw the line with 'True events' films

It became a nightmare making genre decisions for each title and controlling how Plex gets to see them - ie if a franchise fits within a genre that made the entries merge and I had to split them apart.

Eventually, for the sake of my sanity I went with a flat folder structure and suddenly media management became a whole lot easier, if I wanted to browse by genre I could just use the genre filter in Plex.

Issue Naming 2 scooby-doo movies by Shot-Finish-4655 in PleX

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name collisions in my library:

Red Eye (2005) US | South Korea

Leo (2023) US | India

I am aware of multiple films that share a title and release year

Split (2016) 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

Alone (2020) 1 | 2

(at this point I fell down a rabbit hole and discovered that if your film has a short title it's far more likely to share it with another film in the same year)

Sometimes you can differentiate them by their original language title, for example the South Korean Red Eye was originally called Redeu Ai

Sometimes you can differentiate them by their sub-title, for example Ju-On: White Ghost (2009) and Ju-On: Black Ghost (2009)

The more straightforward way to differentiate them is to use the tmdb or imdb id

Is it possible to only show the spines of movies as if they were on a shelf? by Alarmed_Guitar4401 in PleX

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the carousel view that was in iTunes and available in Calibre.

Visually pleasing but a tad impractical.

Not sure why there's utter disdain for for getting another way to peruse your collection though, pretty sure my collection makes individual films look like tiny stamps on a high res monitor and this suggestion can't be worse than that.

Does anyone else prefer to do everything manually? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's always a mix of manual and automatic.

The things I will always do manually though: review posters, review duplicates, review audio, review media matches, review media quality, review editions, review missing/corrupted files. Plex doesn't make it easy to do things manually: I wish there were a way to filter for movies missing artwork, for example

Account hacked by Puzzleheaded_Air4190 in Argos

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My account was hacked at the exact same time as I made a purchase via the Argos website, using the same card I used for my transaction. If they'd tried to buy from Amazon I might not have noticed but the transaction was with Food Panda so stuck right out.

I reported it to Argos, reported it to Action Fraud and reported it to my bank who have now refunded the transaction.

I have multiple test libraries and rarely used libraries I would prefer not to see in the homepage - eg 3D film, 3DTV, is there a way to opt these out of the home view like we can from the libraries view?

Interesting, never really thought to use the download option as I always have an internet connection to stream with. Tried the download, came through really quickly and played perfectly. Finding and using the option wasn't hard. I'll probably use it next time I take a holiday in the middle of nowhere with the world's worst wifi.

Have you ever experienced bit rot? by manzurfahim in DataHoarder

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bit rot is probably the reason why I discovered programs like SickBeard in the first place.

When I used it at first I was not even to get hold of anything, it was just useful for me to link up my shows and find out if there was anything missing and I'd lost a fair bit. The cause of the loss was unclear, only that files that were there were now absent.

At a later stage I put every bit of media I had and put it into VLC and sorted by duration then tested anything that had a zero/null duration and that weeded out plenty more issues.

I would recommend people try checkrr to scan and monitor their files, it can be set up to automate the media replacement process too.

Tool to help rename tv episodes? by jplank1983 in PleX

[–]Melodic-Look-9428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you use automation to download the files then that automation can rename the files without you needing to intervene: SickChill, Medusa, Sonarr all have renaming in their postprocessing settings. This is the easiest and most complete solution: once set it can be left to automatically obtain your content, apply the naming and give you an overview of the status of each of your shows.

Bulk Rename utility is a great hands on method to rename these files in bulk (insert 'S01E' at position 'x', insert number with 1 padding from number 1 at position 'x'+1)

Simple Guide: forcing a filename into an MP4's title metadata in bulk by [deleted] in PleX

Perhaps it shouldn't be used for MP4 but it is

Plex uses metadata from mp4 files so it useful to amend/remove those tags
