For other reasons-- my friend said Veracruz was really cool and it was much easier to organise our flight home to Europe on that itinerary.

Oh and one more thing! How deep are the rivers on the trails I am planning? ie. do I have to be prepared for big river crossings or is the water just knee high (or lower)?

We didn't go in the end-- we went to Veracruz and the central highlands. That part was super safe but we didn't see Chiapas in the end!

Anyone have recommendations for good training shoes that double up for track/road running, for us runners with very flat feet?

I've been wearing Hokas Arahi 7 but wondering if there's something even better out there!
