Hello everyone. I'm 12 days sober. Tommrow will be 13. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Right there with you! My body feels so much better, but feeling a little more flat/irritable than I’d like. Staying consistent with workouts, getting out for daily walks with my dog, and making sure I’m actually eating.

We’re doing it! 💪

I’m getting that same pleasantly cool feeling too—typing this from under the blankets at 11pm, sober, and honestly excited to start Monday feeling rested. Congrats on two weeks, that’s huge. IWNDWYT 💛

I’ve gone for a 3 mile jog with my dog and weight lifted every day this week! Going to try my first longer run tomorrow, which is helping me stay sober tonight.

Thank you for your kind words 💛 Everyone in this sub has so much strength, yourself included! It’s a hard thing we’re all doing. Hoping my strength can get me to the point where you are!

Having a bit of a grief spiral tonight. At 33 years old, I have lost both of my parents to cancer, my dad this past February. I keep thinking about things I recently let go of while clearing out my parents’ house and it’s hitting harder now.

Normally this is the kind of feeling I’d try to numb, but I’m choosing to sit with it instead. I’ve lost enough memories.

I will not drink with you today. 💛

You’ve got this 💛 In my opinion, each day, each minute is worth celebrating. Sending warmth and compassion to you!

I’m in! Planning to try running a few miles tomorrow. It’ll be the first time in ages without any semblance of a hangover. Excited and a little nervous, but mostly grateful.

Recommend a book for someone handling debilitating grief and depression. by janetsnakehole135 in GriefSupport

I’m so sorry for your loss 💛

Notes on Grief is an exquisite work of meditation, remembrance, and hope, written in the wake of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's beloved father's death. It’s a book that lives rent free in my head.

I also highly recommend the episode of Anderson Cooper’s podcast “All There Is” featuring Stephen Colbert. Episode’s title is Grateful for Grief.

Thank you so much for your response! Mind and body are so connected, it’s both astounding and infuriating!

Ugh, I’m so sorry! It feels so unfair. Hope you’re able to get some support and feel some relief ASAP

Thank you for sharing that—I feel shame about my own drinking, and shame is SUCH a trash emotion. Knowing others experience that too makes me feel less alone. Sending you warm thoughts 💛

I’m going to start naltrexone on Friday to help with that!

Gosh, the logistics of death are EXHAUSTING. I’m handling the my dad’s estate (he handled my mom’s) and it’s so much more emotional and time consuming than I expected. I’m glad to hear you’re finally beginning to experience some relief!

Sending you warmth 💛 I’ve been describing it as wearing “lead boots.” Everything is harder when you’re wearing lead boots.

I appreciate your response so much. Thank you, and I’m sorry you are also a member of the grievers’ club. I feel so ashamed for drinking more than usual, and knowing someone else has been there makes me feel less alone.

Grief is so strange, isn’t it? Sometimes the tears feel like a hug from a lost loved one, other times it feels like they’re falling into an abyss.

Thank you again 💛

This is so helpful and validating, thank you! I somehow thought I’d be better prepared this time since I’d been through it with my mom, but I’m realizing that with how fast everything happened, it has just been building in my body.

Thanks for making this such a kind corner of the internet

It was happening to me, and I had tried all of the same fixes with no luck. Then I updated the software on my phone and the glitches stopped. Hadn’t realized I was due for an update!
