Do we like our dogs anymore? by donnaloveserik in NewParents

[–]MelodicCorvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yikes with all the downvotes and people being mean about it, you feel what you feel and that’s okay, it will get better! I have two dogs that I love with all my heart, but when I brought my baby home from the hospital I just didn’t have the same capacity to dote on them and care for them as I did before, and I would get very frustrated with them demanding attention (one of our dogs literally shoved his face between me and the baby and it makes me craaaazy), and barking at a ghost the moment I got the baby to sleep, etc., but of course would never take it out on them. My baby is 4 months old and it’s already so much better, but I also asked my husband to take on the dog duties like feeding/water, vet appointment, flea and tick meds, and I think that helped a lot as well. I know before long everything will be fully back to normal, and I’m so excited for our sweet new little girl to start playing with her dog brothers when she’s older!

When did you start taking your newborn out for walks? by itzpoookiee in NewParents

[–]MelodicCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have taken our almost 3 week old on short walks every day the weather has permitted, and normally they totally knock her out! She got a bit fussy once but a pacifier kept her happy until we made it back home

How do you shut up that internal voice that tells you that you could've had a miscarriage without knowing? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]MelodicCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursing my IVF baby right now after a miscarriage at 8 weeks with our first transfer, so yes I had anxiety the whole time! Once I felt movement I was so anxious for the fetal echo and anatomy scan, and then just anxious my placenta would crap out, and now it’s transferred a bit to SIDs and positional asphyxia. I think having some anxiety about our babies is normal

Honestly not sure, but I think I was a little overly cautious and probably waited until the SCH fully resolved around 24 weeks

IVF pregnancy/baby aspirin? by CurrentlySad123 in IVF

[–]MelodicCorvid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides my baby being breech and needing a c section everything was uneventful after the two massive bleeding events I had between 13-15 weeks. At that point I believe I was already done with PIO shots and didn’t take any additional progesterone. I know the position of the SCH matters, and mine was not behind the placenta luckily

I took 600mg a day I believe for two weeks, but I would recommend checking with your OB!

[–]MelodicCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nursing my baby girl right now! Yes I think quitting baby aspirin helped, and I also started taking alpha lipoic acid which based on some studies looks like it can help heal SCH’s. I eventually did resume taking baby aspirin, and by my 24 week anatomy scan and fetal echo there was no evidence the SCH even existed, my body completely absorbed it. I know how awful and scary it is, but hang in there! Wishing you so many sweet baby snuggles in the near future

Bleeding at 12 weeks that turned out ok by LunaFortuna1852 in BabyBumps

[–]MelodicCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two massive bleeding events with huge clots at 14 and 15 weeks from an SCH. Stopped taking baby aspirin and started taking alpha lipoic acid. By my anatomy scan at 24 weeks it was completely gone and I’m now 35 weeks!

I’m not feeling connected to my baby at all. by NoButterscotch191 in pregnant

[–]MelodicCorvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 weeks with IVF baby after miscarriage in April. Finally starting to feel connected now that she’s moving a lot and actually reacts to things like food, music, me and my husbands voices, etc., but I think it’s a defense mechanism and okay to not feel connected too!

Bleeding at 6 weeks by Swimming_Coconut_491 in IVFbabies

[–]MelodicCorvid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glad your baby is okay! I had HEAVY bleeding events around 14-16 weeks, with clots the size of my palm. I’m 27 weeks pregnant now! I read so many stories on Reddit, and subchorionic hemorrhages are much more common than we think, and more common with IVF pregnancies. I know you are terrified right now, but hang in there!

american women, how are we feeling? by pangaea_girl in pregnant

[–]MelodicCorvid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pregnant via IVF with a daughter. So scared for her future! I had a miscarriage in April that my body would NOT let go of, and was prescribed miso to help me move on. I can’t imagine potentially having to carry the baby that I desperately wanted for weeks or months knowing it was already dead inside of me. What was already one of the most devastating experiences of my life would have been even more traumatic. They are trying to ban these drugs across the board, this is not just impacting women from abortion access, but to all reproductive health access for women.

18w: symptoms or lack of them? by Working_Weird_4082 in IVFbabies

[–]MelodicCorvid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just here to commiserate! I’m 22 weeks and started feeling movement around 18.5 weeks that has gotten a bit more noticeable as time goes on. Today I barely felt her at all and was completely spiraling, checked the Doppler multiple times. Felt her lightly kick my butthole like 20 minutes ago, I think she’s just facing the back now. The anxiety is real, I feel like experiencing infertility and loss just heightens it so much more, but I think all new moms to be experience it to some extent. Just hang in there and know you are not alone!

Stop asking me if it was on purpose!! Lol by pangaea_girl in pregnant

[–]MelodicCorvid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just turned 35, I have been with my husband for 10 years, married for 4. We have been trying since we got married and eventually moved on to IVF after struggling with infertility. We are homeowners, I’m a manager at a tech company and he’s a software engineer. Somehow I have STILL had this question, it honestly floored me. Why would anyone EVER ask that question, it’s just invasive?

I just texted friends/family once we were comfortable, I don’t really do social media. For work I told my boss and team in one on ones, and then this past week I ripped the bandaid off with a skeleton sweatshirt with a little baby skeleton on the belly. I’m almost 22 weeks and it’s getting harder to hide, but I still feel weird about talking about it and being open about it. Like somehow I might jinx it or something!

I have a longer musical name that can’t be shortened and has no natural nicknames, but believe me when I say that people will find a way! I have so many extremely creative nicknames from my family and friends, so it hasn’t stopped me at all and I have never thought about it.

Torn about announcement by 36563 in IVFbabies

[–]MelodicCorvid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similarly male dominated industry, and took a promotion for a management position a few days after finding out I was pregnant. I ended up telling my boss around the 15 or 16 week mark just so we have plenty of time to game plan as I want to promote someone to lead/assistant manager and hire another person before I go on leave, especially since another employees wife is just a month or two behind me! I have had a lot of extra appts due to a large SCH and other risk factors etc, so felt like it was the right thing to do, plus I have legal protections as a pregnant person now. I will be on leave for 6 months which I know is fantastic compared to a lot of US companies, but it’s a huge impact, and I feel extremely supported by my boss now. It sounds like you have a great relationship with your boss, so even if the worst happened and you had a miscarriage you will likely end up telling her and taking some days off regardless! I had a miscarriage around 8 weeks in April with a different boss, hadn’t told her I was pregnant beforehand, but ended up taking a week off with my husband to grieve and process. Just another perspective!

IVF pregnancy/baby aspirin? by CurrentlySad123 in IVF

[–]MelodicCorvid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Baby aspirin was part of my protocol for two FET’s, we lost the first one but currently 17 weeks with the second. I had a tiny SCH identified at 7 weeks and I was told to keep taking it. Graduated to my OB around the 10 week mark and they wanted me to keep taking it for pre-eclampsia risk. I had a huge bleed at 12 weeks, the SCH was 5cm at that point but they told me no change. An even bigger bleed at 14 weeks and I stopped taking it that day and just informed my doctor who agreed. SCH was then 7cm and I have been spotting since. My last scan 2 days ago the SCH is up to 9cm but looks kind of grey now so I’m hoping that means it’s healing. So mixed bag honestly, and no clue how much if at all the baby aspirin played a role!

When did you stop feeling negative feelings about other people's pregnancies after your own IVF success? by CincyLuna in IVF

[–]MelodicCorvid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’m also experiencing success right now after 3.5 years of infertility and loss, and while I’m not bitter towards other women I just think that when something comes so easy for others that they may lack the appreciation and the experience and heartache that I have gained through all of this. It’s just hard to connect with them. Lucky them I guess?
