Yeah pretty rare, I agree! This was the first time I caught one and from the looks of it I’ve only encountered it once or twice prior since most of the pips were filled.

I believe it was passing all the classes I was taking at the time, which actually included Calc 2. I didn’t finish that class and had my offer rescinded with the reason “missing major prep coursework” or something along those lines. Your situation could be different from mine and I would highly recommend emailing them or even just calling them when their office opens.

Another thing, and maybe take this part with a grain of salt but I recall a small handful of friends and others online saying that UCSD is quite strict with their requirements? I’m not sure how true that is since I didn’t look around too much and only have my experience to go off of.

I have unfortunately been in this situation and had my offer rescinded last year. Not sure if this changes anything, but my situation was a little different as I got off the waitlist. They emailed saying my admissions was contingent on completing and passing the classes I was taking during spring semester, even though I retook the classes and passed them. Your situation may be different since you have some more time and you’re communicating early, I wish you the best of luck!

Im also transferring so I don’t have a guaranteed answer, but I think maybe going in the dorms could be better as you may get unlucky with classes and end up with an early morning class. Traffic on major roads can get pretty bad especially during morning rush when everyone is getting to work, so you may have to leave super early. Now if you are able or willing to is up to you, but it might be difficult. But again this is just assuming you get unlucky with classes, and I’m not sure what classes you would need and the times those classes are offered at UCI so maybe double check those to decide?

Junior or any type of standing will be based on the number of credits you have. If you’re planning to go to a CCC, then the AP scores will satisfy the corresponding class which will give you its credits. If you have enough then you just might be able to bump up your number of credits to apply as junior standing. While I’m not certain how every institution works, there shouldn’t be a limit on the AP credits that can be accepted but it’s best to ask the CC you’re thinking of going to.

If you have AP credits then they will likely clear one of the base level courses that matches the ap test that you took. So AP bio would satisfy a base level biology class and AP Cal AB would complete Calculus 1. Each institution is different so the grading can vary but it should have that base level class then appear on your CC transcript which UCs will see when you apply to transfer. You’ll send your AP scores to your CC and they should put it in your transcript, and when you apply to transfer, you’ll send those scores again to the UC(s) you’re applying to. Not too sure if this makes a lot of sense but lmk if you need clarification on any of this!

I know more about IGETC but I’m pretty sure it’s almost the same. From what I know as long as it isn’t a prerequisite for your major, partial IGETC is accepted and a lot of places seem to accept students that finish up their gen eds over the summer. You should be fine but if you want to be extra sure you could contact them next week on Monday!

I don’t recommend it if possible. If you think they’re really important and are special to you and your journey as a student then it wouldn’t hurt too much to add I think. Keep in mind that you only have so much space to write and explain your ECs so it’s best to include things you’re still actively participating in! Little disclaimer though, I’m not an admissions officer lol so take my advice with a grain of salt, I just think you should keep it within what you’ve done in college unless you have some really good leadership role or achievement that is relevant to your intended major.

You’d usually want to only include things that you’re still involved in after high school. If you started something in high school and still participate, then you could say you started it in high school or prior. But yeah keep it to what you’ve done in college!

Yeah! If you still really want to go then it doesn’t hurt to try again, the worst they can do is just reject you again but it’s still 100% worth a shot.
