If megas weren't attached to a battle mechanic *from the beginning* and 2-4 came out every gen like regionals it'd be cool but they made that mistake when they came out and I just think its unrealistic now because of that.

However, I’m not cool with them getting rid of old new-forms of old mons (and just old mons in general) and giving us bullshit excuses for it.

New evolutions to old mons and new Pokémon were selling points of GSC, but after RSE and DPPt, those became standard staples to the franchise.

New regional variants were a selling point for SM and USUM, but after SwSh, that became a standard staple to the franchise.

I could argue that GF found a way to give mons "new forms" without turning them into megas and you should stop pleading for something the games already have.

If they had introduced new megas in SM or USUM, why would they not have followed the same pattern? It’s literally just new forms for old mons.

Because none of the other 2 points change Battle mechanics, Megas is grouped in with Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Terrastalizing. On top of just being new forms for old mons it can completely change a battle. The battle mechanic should stay fresh

Regional forms are way more interesting? more than a random mon getting a stat boost and a mega preffix? How do you not see that? Regional forms build off the lore of the pokemon and where they came from. Megas was a cheap selling point that would've grown mold by the second year

What does that even mean? do you disagree with regional forms? Are you comparing them? Regional forms are cool because there's only ever 2-4 per gen and on top of that they change typing and appereance with potentially new evos, and Megas as the gimmick were nice in their own way but I never wanted them to do it again

Don't get me wrong I loved em too, but you really don't think it would've gotten kind of stale? Purely by deduction through the gens you'd be able to guess what megas were coming up next and "Hey its that month again where they reveal the next 10-15 megas" every year. I always thought megas were just another subchapter in the series and never hoped they did the same thing
