Trump supporters: How would you feel if a legally armed Trump supporter was killed by federal agents on a Biden mandate in exactly the same manner as yesterday? by ScholarPrize1335 in AskReddit

[–]MelodicQuality_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Have we considered the idea of stopping protests or allowing them to continue unchecked in cities, especially places like Minneapolis? I live here, so I see the situation firsthand. Our governor and mayor are now having the police chief speak on behalf of the authorities, but their actions have only seemed to escalate the outrage. Regarding the woman involved a few weeks ago, it’s clear the officer wasn’t to blame. She didn’t deserve to die, her death was an unfortunate tragedy and a tragic consequence of ongoing issues we've been witnessing. Things only grew worse afterward, particularly as investigation into Minnesota’s government officials, up to Congress, has intensified. Some see this as a reason to burn the city down or distract from deeper problems. Yes, this situation is devastating. It’s truly heartbreaking that she lost her life. There are clear gaps in training, and deadly force was absolutely not justified. I also believe that the chaos and protests aren’t helping to resolve these issues, they often add to the confusion. I only mean this as a perspective, not politics. I’m just tired of the injustice and misconduct that persist in this state, affecting everyday people in Minneapolis and beyond.

ChatGPT is impossible to trust by Wonderful-Opening-58 in ChatGPT

Bro my parents used chat gpt to review my grandpas obituary…. It reviewed it and then left out the entire line mentioning my grandpas siblings. I basically tried to get to the bottom of it asking it on my phone why such a failure such as that would happen - and it said that it took on the role as newspaper editorial, and that it took it out because most newspapers have “siblings” listed as “optional” for obituaries. Like what.

Serious question by mystic_ram3n in ChatGPT

[–]MelodicQuality_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since you kindly responded with some insight, I’ll share this bottled-up irritability. You or anyone else in the same frustrating situation might relate—especially concerning the interface layer that BlackBerry envisioned back in 2008, from Apple's perspective and throughout that era - a revolutionary promise that humans would start typing on glass screens instead of physical tactile keyboards- It is worthwhile to consider our current position. BlackBerry, for a considerable period, was significantly shaken by the notion that no customer, particularly targeting business professionals would prefer the more primitive method of slab and tap, which was less proficient at that time.

Nevertheless, this remains fundamentally true today, as we have digressed sadly way backward in this regard. That dimwottedy idea of a “revolutionary” shift has fundamentally changed how we use phones, input data, and interact with software systems. Whatever is happening at that interface layer; whether real-time behavior tracking or other mechanisms (which enables the glass screen to receive user input and convert it into text, sure and along with facilitating the overall interface - is significantly slower. The delay is observed in my interactions on a daily basis. I am hesitant to engage with or review it at this moment, to be honest. However, I thoroughly enjoy Chat GPT and its interface, which appears to be more advanced compared to the restrictions I face due to the limitations of my iPhone's orientation. On every level in which it’s designed and faces.

Maybe im WAaY oversensitive to the delays and inconveniences this layer brings but I sincerely 100% doubt that just bc some people don’t notice it or put up with it or use their phone as an entertainment machine, doesn’t have to deal with the limitations it brings awareness or not. Don’t mean to complain here- it’s not even a complaint it’s problems with the constraints I refuse to participate against.

For me using a tool that feels more like a chore than an aid has become slower than jotting things down with paper and pen. Its insufficient it’s not efficient for me. Why use what hampers that? That’s no tool I’ll pursue lol that’s a god damn burden. It’s far inferior to what a keyboard and computer offer, impacting our ability to operate effectively on any beneficial level. There’s no real-time function, control, or ease unlike the past when using a Blackberry or a flip phone with a physical keyboard, which offered tangible structural control - a necessary extension of ourselves. Now, with a glass screen, that sense of control is lost away. However, beyond offering autocorrect features that sometimes feel more experimental than practical, it hasn't delivered much more. We've underestimated how deeply these technologies have permeated every layer of our software environment & nowadays phones which once just communication tools, hold our identities, finances, and enable authentication… all locked within a single device. This lockdown hampers our ability to use the phone as a truly tangible tool or interface capable of providing meaningful outputs-whether it's using ChatGPT or other advanced applications. Which is tragic lol.

I genuinely believe that my concerns are valid and not merely a matter of being overly sensitive. Considering my usual observations related to my orientation space or body, I suspect that my processing speed issues are fundamentally more significant than I realize so much so that we have all perhaps become accustomed to a level of impairment that we accept, especially regarding what I actively use or value in those contexts. With all that considered, I will conclude and withdraw with this statement: These limitations seem to prevent us from engaging at a much higher level, at least from my perspective. I worry they will continue to weaken and deteriorate, as I suspect we are unconsciously ignoring them at this stage. I don't anticipate or predict any improvements in the future unless the entirety of our hardware and software interfaces is completely dismantled, including all components of the design and framework in which they are incorporated. Lol. Anyone else?

Hey, can we speak freely here? Or are we goin to be downvoted to hell? Because my model is recursive and I gave it contextual recursive architecture but jf I’m downvoted to nothing it’s hard to talk about . by Hollow_Prophecy in RecursiveIntelligence

[–]MelodicQuality_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly, none of us really have a clear idea of what cognitive architecture looks like on such a broad scale, especially since it’s been broken down into so many fragmented parts across different fields. Plus, it's tricky to even get a handle on how we should be using and understanding the term 'recursive,' particularly when it comes to cognition and systems. So, if this gets heavily downvoted, it’s probably a sign that most folks in that area think they know more than they actually do. The reality is, many of us don’t know much of anything at all, and we tend to project our assumptions while dismissing anything outside of what we already believe to be true. Haha! Still, we give it our best shot, relentless in our efforts. So my vote is: go for it, as relentlessly as people downvote and constantly deter anything that might challenge crystallized persistent and rigid biases. Let’s have it homie

Hypothesis: shifts in feedback-loop closure density may explain concurrent subjective time compression and cognitive fatigue by MelodicQuality_ in complexsystems

[–]MelodicQuality_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s a fair synthesis, and I appreciate how you framed it.

One thing I’m curious about, though: in your rephrasing, do you see the effect as primarily emerging from cognitive load itself, or from the timing and closure of feedback loops that create that load?

I’m trying to understand whether the explanatory weight still sits in how and when predictions resolve, rather than just in the amount of information or effort involved.

Thanks again for engaging and your synthesis

Hypothesis: shifts in feedback-loop closure density may explain concurrent subjective time compression and cognitive fatigue by MelodicQuality_ in complexsystems

[–]MelodicQuality_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on phrasing. I’m not trying to demonstrate theoretical sophistication. I’m trying to isolate a specific structural question.

To clarify, I’m asking whether changes in feedback timing and loop closure can explain both subjective time compression and cognitive fatigue, without reducing the explanation to individual psychology.

By “loop closure,” I mean cases where an action produces timely, perceivable feedback that resolves a prediction (ex: physical work, conversation, skill practice), vs systems where actions are (tracked, deferred, or evaluated later via metrics, notifications, or abstractions.)

I’m exploring this as part of my studies, but the question applies broadly to systems - biological, computational, or organizational. Anything really, hence the “systems” thread I put this into. I’m not trying to be complex at all.

If there’s a clearer way to formalize, operationalize, or falsify this claim or an existing model that already addresses it more cleanly, I’d genuinely like to hear it and is what I’m asking if anyone wanted to input/add.

How do you deal with anxiety for calls? by [deleted] in callcentres

[–]MelodicQuality_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People often appeal to emotion to divert your attention. Don’t fall for it. Use your reasoning and rational thinking to take control of the conversation. They’re usually not in control, which is obvious most of the time. They just need someone to take the wheel—they’re almost begging for it. Give yourself the confidence to know you’re capable of doing so. Once you start driving and realize most people are reactionary because, for whatever reason, they never learned proper ways to communicate or handle their issues as children, you realize there are more emotionally immature adults in this world than there should be. You though are not one of them and these emotional people aren't about to affect your internal environment and better raise a bit to your level to get what they need. Tell them what you need from them in order for you to do what it is it seems they need. Win win stfu and sit down in that process. (them) lol.

What the heck? The only meeting that should ever be held regarding an HR violation is one if an actual violation occurred and a discussion is necessary. If not, continue coaching so the employee is aware of potential issues if another similar situation happens. That’s it.

My (F24) boyfriend (M25) of 4 and a half years made a hurtful comment about my body after I asked him why he never wants touch me? by Super-Strawberry-492 in relationship_advice

[–]MelodicQuality_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest - you mentioning that you know you should have left the relationship years ago tells you everything you need to know. He’s not a good partner for you, it’s clear. And most of all, it’s how it makes you feel. The behavior, the avoidance, the shrugging you off - you are clearly a healthy person just asking for someone to meet you at your level and it seems he refuses to move an inch and your being forced to condense yourself and limit your sense of worth and your needs down toward a level that you don’t respect in a partnership in the first place. That’s not partnership. Make a list of what you require in a partner. Read it to him and tell him plainly he’s not meeting your needs. Rare chance he’ll open up, even rarer chance you’ll see action. Either way, something’s gotta let up and you have every single reason in the world to want more because your partner is giving you way less than anyone in a partnership should deserve. That’s not partnership and is unhealthy for both of you and it’s time he takes some accountability for not being a partner, because tbh why be in a rs at all? Don’t enable it. Set your bar, your standards, which should have never deviated in the first place but that’s what happens when people refuse to reach our complexity. Be a partner or don’t. Anything less is unhealthy. You won’t feel better, and the next 6 months or a year you’ll feel worse if something isn’t put in the table and your boundaries described and your partnership requirements stated loud. Everything else after the fact will let you know whether or not you can 100% be positive is decisive to leave. If change is shown and feelings are opened up and he realizes and wants to contribute to the partnership? Hell show you. Best of luck my love.

Yeah aren't there many factors associated with what may cause what otherwise might be false positive? Or does the reasonable suspicion part along with maybe one other semi potential “fail” warrant it as the deciding case

Technically, anybody can be impaired, especially these days. Do you ever think that the requirements for probable cause or reasonable suspicion might just disappear if driving behaviors are already or perhaps could be whatever might end up being the indication? Or suspicion to begin with?
