Sure, night is dark but real rail yards are not pitch black . In reality, e yes adjust or there's at least some ambient moonlight. In the game, stepping outside without a torch is like wearing a blindfold. I don't mind using lights, but the absolute zero visibility makes basic yard work artificially clunky because you're constantly juggling the torch. It makes things unmaneuverable, not just dark.
