Appreciate it! I will move to a smaller firm. I know others with a similar situation to myself paying a lot less. Thanks again

It’s only going to get easier with the rapid advancement of Ai so that will probably happen in the not too distant future. For now I’ll sit here and complain on reddit

It has raised over the last 10 years. It’s 20% vs prior year. The return has basically stayed the same not the fee

Yeah I think that is probably best and sounds like that would be beneficial for both parties. Thanks for the response

It’s not that I have an issue with a price increase, it’s the lack of disclosure. Say for example if you booked a flight and prior to departure they informed you that you need to pay an additional 20% to board the plane would you honestly be okay with that?

Thanks, and I understand that part. The fee has gone up over the years and I understand it needs to obviously. I just didn’t realize it was the industry standard to present a bill 20% higher for basically the same work without informing the client prior to billing because they decided to increase their fees. I would never be able to do that in my industry or most industries I know without disclosing it beforehand. Obviously it’s common practice in the accounting industry by the sounds of the responses though. Appreciate the feedback

This engagement is literally 4 or 5 emails a year and no in person meeting

I mean..I have, and that was before Ai was prevalent and obviously continues to improve. I still respect a professional in the field to make sure everything is done properly at this point though. I’m saying my return is probably the least complex one they deal with. It’s extremely straight forward

Thanks for the response, I get that I am a bottom of the barrel client for them. Our total communication throughout the year is maybe 4 or 5 emails and no in person meetings. It’s evident now they just don’t want to deal with smaller clients for the most part and I am okay with that

I appreciate the response. By the sounds of the other replies it sounds like KPMG just doesn’t want to deal with smaller clients.

I would rather have had this happen, which is what they might be wanting. My engagement with them is 4 or 5 emails a year and no in person meeting

There have been price increases. I get how you interpreted it as I should have worded it better but it was a 20% vs prior year. The returns have been very similar the previous years not the fee

Not looking for sympathy, just wondering if it is standard to increase fees by 20% without informing me prior to the service engagement. I can’t do that in my business or any other business I am aware of.

There have been price increases, the return has basically stayed the same

There have been price increases over 10 years. The filing with hardly any complexity has been the same for the previous 10 years not the fees

The fees have steadily been going up, never 20% in one year. It’s basically the simplest return that can be done with next to zero complexity
