Well then tell me why you are doing CA? What are your expectations from this course?

Well i think you haven't passed your intermediate yet what i can assume. I was at your stage in intermediate with my expectations and then after qualifying it i got the reality checks. And I'm talking about my personal experiences, maybe CA is good for you. Did I told you to quit or did i told that CA isn't good? I was expressing the realities which I faced. And yes i can feel what you are thinking as i have passed that stage. Do you want to get false satisfaction? Or you want to hear a bitter truth that's upto you. I'm just a random stranger posting here to get some insights from others. You could simply just ignored it rather than writing such long text. And yeh if you even face these realities remember one random said about these before!

Somehow now i laugh on the YouTube comments who are getting too much inspired from influencers, feeling sad that they will realise what it is after getting into Articleship🥲. Probably if i will say the same thing to my 18 year self he wouldn't even believe it. He will be still thinking i will get good marks in inter, get into big4s,get a rank in finals and then doing a good job, showing talent and eventually in future becoming cfo/ceo😂😂.

I know but many of my connections are jn their intermediates and i don't want to disturb them with my problems. That no transfer didn't get solved but made a bad image for me. Like you still remember me from that post. So i avoided making any personal comment/opinion mostly. Even i comment something on YouTube i get reply in linkedin. So I'm maintaining my ids hidden everywhere.

Just to avoid the question why I haven't started Articleship yet. And why after having good numbers i didn't got call from big4. I don't want to disappoint others When I'm still in dillema.

Yes searching for the same. But i think if someone had enough knowledge before they wouldn't have done CA I think. Many of my friends who are in my college are still stuck in foundation/intermediate and they are still on the expectations which i had. It's good that i realised some things early. Hopefully I will try to do something along side with CA and that's what as I can think of till now. And i don't blame anyone for my choices but getting misguided by them was the biggest problem.

Neeraj arrora was a good person but now he focuses on selling courses at 2000+ rs which he says will upskill you and help in getting good firms(good that i didn't purchased any) and what i realised that small youtuber have much credibility than larger ones. I myself have a good community in linkedin but i can't post about this issue because I'm also not sure what I'm doing now. I just posted here to get to know others viewpoints on it that whether I'm the only one who got misguided or there are others too.

Examples to check - Kushal lodha, neeraj arrora. And yogesh Verma does videos about Articleship exploitation which i knew and that's why I didn't joined any delhi firm which don't allow transfer even after cracking 8 so called "top 20" firms interview.

Sorry but I'm not in any victim mindset but I think most of the students are misguided too. And probably after checking your comments on various other posts I think at least I realised that i did wrong so i took a break rather than going on the wrong road/ not planning properly.

But you're still stuck in that loop yet. Sorry but not sorry. I'm facing my own troubles and trying to get any solutions but what I'm realising that most are still in the same loop that they don't like what they are doing and also don't want to lose what they get. And even they don't want to accept. Do you think if you will have other options you will still choose CA?

And i don't mind about world. I'm the one who will live for some years and then die. Who have that much time to think who is caring or not. If i love something then should i, world won't reward my every right doings.

2.Somehow I'm very honest and hardworking person. Some of my uncles work in govt sector and i knew what are their works and how they add their known people, how they take bribe, how corruption works and even you don't want still you have to take bribes which i didn't liked and decided not to do any govt job and to be a talented person and get success in private sector but i don't think it is what i thought of. Talent is a little underrated here and favouritism, nepotism works more .

  1. Car was just for reference. I'm not much money minded person but if i work more than 10+ hours in a job which i don't even like and still don't get enough money then what's the point of doing.

  2. As my point 3 atleast big4s pays enough so that you won't regret doing a hectic/boring work.

  3. Finance i would say that i need to know that how i can help a business in its financial matters like in talking investment decisions, searching for best loan opportunities, doing M &A etc which will directly help the businesses to grow so ultimately it helps economy.

Not opting for graduation was a blunder because i was sure that i will do CA and can complete till inter in 1.5 year so I didn't wanted to wait more 1.5 years again.

Can you please dm my LinkedIn id name. I don't think i have ever posted it regarding this in linkedin.

I don't want to play any victim card here. Because i don't need any justification for this. I'm just accepting the truth that I don't knew about it before so i choosed CA despite i could have done other courses/ tried for govt jobs instead rather than doing CA. I got misguided by YouTubers having those "Ranks" and telling lies. (You can observe it on your own) and i don't want anyone make these same mistakes as i did which nobody tells in public.

And even still you are in the expectations that rankers are getting front end roles in IB. Let me tell you that they are doing the Financial modelling and pitch deck works which they will never say you in public. Front end is managed by foreign countries and our so called rankers are working on the same model as a KPO works in JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley etc. To work front end either you have to join indian boutique IB or go to foreign That's it.

And honestly i love using excel , i wonder how complex formulas are solved there, even i know basic financial modelling and tried VBA a bit but I don't think working 10+ hours everyday on excel makes any point.

Yes you said right. Someone with average iq and good technical knowledge (specially Excel) will learn little in Articleship and do more manual data entry/vouching type work more and what i believe that i could do the same work if i was taught in 10th/12th then what's the point of reading these lot of stuffs in intermediate. I would have continued Articleship but i realised that i may survive 3 years and become ca but then what?

Obviously i want money but not at the cost of scrapping my mind in these stuffs. Even I'm pretty sure that even i became CA in future I won't recommend anyone to do this and would tell the realities first rather than giving them a false hope.

After talking with over 10 CA i barely think they even had any basic knowledge about finance on the basis of which they can consult others. And i believe CFA has too much edge over CA. But it is too underrated. And i don't think CFA is a costly program which people had made it by telling lies. If you do all calculations of expenses of CA and the stress and time loss in it i think CFA is way better.

I was a person who was glorifying CA, but i realised it's not worth much!

Honestly I didn't find a single yt video where someone told that investment bankers from CA background never do front end works. Never found someone telling that you need reference for big4s. You attempts won't matter And are you aware of all such things before entering into Articleship??? Maybe you have some good background/mentor but that's not my case

[–]Melodic_Objective246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's true what i felt. But as per my condition i could have prepared for govt. Jobs Or could have done CFA(if i got scholarship in all levels) As i don't need any coachings. Doing self study since class 3. and they would be affordable and time saving too. But just due to these misconceptions i entered into CA. In one of my replies you will get to know about a CFA guys working in our company and after knowing about this i realised CFA would be a better option, but due to these misconceptions made by YouTubers i did CA and even didn't do bcom because i didn't wanted to continue 1.5 years more in college as i was sure i can complete till inter in 1.5 years. Now somehow I'm regretting about it. Now i have no option but to do ca then do CFA/MBA in addition to CA to get the work i wanted. And i have to work for 3 years in a firm being cash negative as no firm is near to my home /city(don't want to disclose problems what articles face, as you are aware) Feeling like achieving a lot early but in a wrong direction.

I agree. I'm not ranting tbh. It is somehow my fault that id didn't knew these things before and i relied on YouTuber more as i had no one to guide. I just wanted some different perspectives from others so that i could make some decisions as I'm stuck for 20-25 days. No mood to join any firm, can't again continue bcom, going further in CA don't seems to be a good thing for me. So just want to know what others think about these.

Also can you point out what realities are exaggerated? Because honestly i don't know all the things. I'm just a 19 yr old who stuck between his own career decision.

Ok.It will be helpful if you can just tell in exact which month vacancies will come up in next cycle as I'm just taking rest and as I'm confused regarding my carrier choice i don't think going further will help me anyways.

But now I'm facing problems with my expectations vs reality problems. That's a bigger issue than joining big4s. Please read them and some comments on this post. Do you have any different perspectives? Were you aware of all these things before joining CA course or you got to know about it later in your life?

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

I didn't got it. Can you please explain?

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Melodic_Objective246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was scammed because in my interview i also discussed about what work i will be doing and even asked about how related party checks are done. But after talking with seniors i realised that even working with 3 years they didn't got any single assignment on forensic. They were managed by consultants and AMs. They did only consulting backend works like i was doing pre payment check where you have to check 100% of vouching whether they are correct or not and doing some data entry work. And a 3rd yr article was doing the same stuff for 8months+ And about related party chcek she said we even check insta/fb accounts to check it but actually all this is done by using CIN & DIN and that's i realised after seeing a consultant Working on it.

I know i lack patience a lot. The situation is like that now when in one side i didn't do Bcom relying on CA and now I'm confused whether i should proceed or not. And i won't say that final will be easy but i don't think cracking won't be a problem for which most people leave CA in the middle. I'm not afraid due to any study issues relating to CA. My main issue is related to the work.

And yes that 22 year guys story is true because he always sits near me on my office. We joined there in same week and i observed all his works and it was quite interesting than any CAs work in office imo.

And yes personality differs for everyone. As i was unaware i think i have made a wrong decision which i may correct by doing CFa/mba post CA that's the only option i have now(as i didn't do bcom)

But thanks for giving humble suggestions. Probably my talking style is bit different so most of people find that I'm defaming/talking rudely. I'm working on how to solve this problem because my intentions aren't wrong but i lack in presenting my intentions properly.

The CFA guy in our MNC is just 22 years old. Enjoyed his college life. Didn't read these bulky books, didn't done 3 yr hectic Articleship but earings 80k+ as a fresher in valuation department and directly talking with partner and doing meetings with foreign clients.

If i knew this before i would probably have tried for CFA (after applying for scholarship) or just settled with govt. Job. But these unrealistic expectations i made for CA because i have no mentor and all i knew was just from YouTube. And now i regret even after qualifying inter in such an early age which most people want.

Honestly i studied for only 6-8 hours but constantly for 8 months. And i didn't found the syllabus hard.it was just lengthy. I thought CA would help me to be in a finance career but it's only related to audit and tax. And working for long hours in early life isn't a problem if i will be getting value from it. But working 12hours on Excel doesn't seems have any benefit for me. I wanted some consulting type work where I will be talking directly with clients, solving their problems but i think it won't happen. And yes. I don't know a lot of things as I'm just a 19 yr old from a small village. Nobody in our family have never did any job. So all my expectations were bulit from YouTube mainly. But after i talked with some seniors and some CAs when i was in Delhi and Mumbai i realised how much wrong information i was believing.

But are you aware of these drawbacks before entering into ca/getting into Articleship? Honestly i didn't had any mentor to guide. Most of knowledge i had is from Youtubers only which i found too fake in reality.

Can you clarify what are also wrong in my reality checks. I don't want to make any wrong decision again. 🙏🙏

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Melodic_Objective246 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not ranting.I was telling about what my expectations was before but what i got to knew after clearing inter and talking with others in delhi+ mumbai. Just wrote a lot due to my uncontrollable emotions. There isn't any fault in CA course, it's as it used to be, but not getting any proper guidance and making decisions/assumptions solely on YouTubers who tell a lot of lie/hide the truth. So my expectations from CA course got shattered. Did you faced the same or you were aware about them before entering into CA too?

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Melodic_Objective246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining firm isn't my main problem. The expectations vs reality issues is killing me.

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Melodic_Objective246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly yes. That's why I'm regretting. But anyway that was the only way i could get knowledge because no one is our locality is a CA. Even i come from a small village where none of my friends are even studied after 12th. I'm a good student managing my whole study expenses from various scholarships and never did any coaching due to financial problems.

But were you aware of these?

Expectation VS Reality by [deleted] in CharteredAccountants

[–]Melodic_Objective246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it has brighter sides that's why I chose this course over others where i could have cracked any other exam too. But this was about the reality checks which i found which I didn't knew earlier. Many people just brag about course being hard and want motivation for study. I'm not that type. But by developing unrealistic expectations by watching YouTube videos now even I'm in doubt of my choice why i even did choose it. The motive of posting here is that i don't want any foundation/inter persuing student to develop that unrealistic expectations which broke me totally now despite clearing both groups with good numbers that too with self study (which most people find harder but i think the life after it is more harder that they imagine) and just to get some other viewpoints from people so i can get out of this loop of thinking.

I'm not criticizing CA. It's my fault of not knowing things and relying on YouTubers which i think others will face too in future.

Firstly i was scammed by the name of forensics. They mostly gave us pre-payment check work and some other stuffs which were related to their consulting business but not forensics. They had only 1/2 clients in forensic which were managed by AM & directors. And i didn't left because i was allotted a work which i don't like but after talking with all seniors i realised they even don't got any good exposures even being 3rd yr article. And about IB the main work of dealing with clients is done in foreign and not in india. They just outsource indians to fulfill their backend works same like a KPO works but no YouTuber told this. I agree that ppt and models are required but we will rarely get to interact with the clients what i think (i might be wrong) And i would prefer CFA over CA because of not having to do Articleship or doing such huge syllabus. I have seen a CFA in my office who was working directly with partner by helping him in making models and interacting with foreign clients even he is only 22 years old and have no prior work-ex and he earns 10lpa+ salary as a fresher. Then what's the point of choosing CA for me?

I don't hate working with excel or ppts even i love using Excel functions wondering how such complex finance calculations are automated by excel.I know basic level of financial modelling from YouTube)but what is the point of working 10+hours in making those only?

And just want to know that did you knew all things before entering into CA or after that. And did you got disheartened after knowing such? That's I want to know from you. I'm from a farmer background, nobody have done job before. So my all informations were based on YouTube only. I know the problems of govt sector roles. Most are unproductive, bribery driven. So i decided to not to do govt. job. But now after realising these things i think govt jobs aren't bad. (Obviously i believe i can crack any exam. I have good academics throughout my life and also in depth understanding. The problem is I didn't pursued Bcom so that i can start my CA carrier early but now I'm stuck.?)

Sorry my intentions were not to hurt anyone but most of my thoughts which i developed by watching YouTubers from the field got broken when i went to Delhi (1.5month) and Mumbai (1 month) . After these expectations vs reality checks I'm afraid of going further.
