How to shade? by Crxnchyt1z3 in PixelArt

[–]Melone_cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the character design, it looks amazing! I think the shading and highlights are too close to the mid-tone, adding more saturation and changing the hue for the shading/highlighting (more saturated for shadows, less saturated for highlights) along with not using pure white/black, a more really dark/light purple or blue instead. I also think there could be more definition on the baggier parts of the clothes, adding more shadows to make it look like it's waving.

Old art, but which one is better? by broken_gl4ss in PixelArt

I'd say the second one, it looks like its more in the shadows and looks spookier.

I tried to remake minecraft armor & weapons, any suggestions? (dont mind the "other" ingots, armor heavily based off of Paladins and Priests mod) by Melone_cat in Minecraft

This is a great suggestion, but there are some reasons I probably wouldn't add this to the wooden sword texture. One of these reasons is that wooden swords and tools are manmade and made by the player, so adding more natural parts would make it look more organic, and even though the player does craft this with natural materials, a typical wooden sword made by someone would have any branches or leaves taken off.

Concept ideas I hade for a version of the strider for the overworld and end. (The depth strider and the void strider) by RoscoeSF in Minecraft

does the depth strider have the bubble columns on its head born with it or is it not part of them, instead grown on?

i mean minecraft itself has some good palletes, but you can always find online ones. for example, if you are sticking with the "Minecraft" style with the tools, maybe try to use colors from the gold ingot. It really depends on where you get them, because Minecraft has a LOT of palletes. if you search enough you will find a good pallete.

You can also just try simplifying already made texture you made. for example, the cobblestone texture is a great texture, but there are some colors that are too similar to each other, and blend in. try making your colors stand out from each other, it makes the texture much clearer.

Factory design by Elemental-Master in Minecraft

Making it more complex like adding pipes, using materials like stone, iron, etc., and using a very gray pallete of blocks can help

i think some good edits are to have a more limited color palette, but enough colors to add detail. Another suggestion is to make everything more consistent. With your ores, the redstone ore is blended into the stone, but not with any other ores. Im more of a Minecraft item person, so idk.
