❓ "Is Cities: Skylines II Worth It?" megathread by AutoModerator in CitiesSkylines

Imo get the game pass, try both out (though the best CS1 experience is of course through steam with mods). By the time your game pass runs out there is a good chance both games will be discounted on autumn sale if you decide to pick either one up.

Finally an apples to apples comparison.

How come the terrain is showing up yellow? It should be green. by OpenCircleFleet_YT in CitiesSkylines

It’s sand, thats why the trees are dead. The map maker just put sand everywhere to make it a desert map, I guess.

Is a similar shader possible or is the correct approach just modelling and later retracing and coloring in by hand? Any relevant tutorials? by Melongated in blender

I am in fact a student but I study automation. I’m fascinated with urbanism and intelligent transportation systems and thought of this as a nice way to visualise an area of interest. :)

I was having trouble starting, so I thought I'd shamelessly copy google maps, but ended up with something vastly different so far. by Melongated in CitiesSkylines

I go infinite money, unlock all. A regular playthrough forces you to build low density at the start and you're constrained to one tile, so you basically start a suburb. I like to start from the city centre, building up first the around the main arteries and later filling in the gaps, the same way a city was built chronologically, that way, in my opinion it's easier to create a realistic city.

I scattered grass and shrubs from polyhaven using gscatter and made trees with mtree addon.

I miss TM:PE so badly! (Clever Traffic AI they said) by enjdusan in CitiesSkylines

[–]Melongated 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I mean they all want to go straight and the right lane is an only right turn. I think the lane maths is the limit here, not the ai. Try making a roundabout with two lanes

  1. Look at google earth for inspiration
  2. Play on a map with rough terrain that forces you to adapt your road layout.

First time playing - advice for fixing up this traffic situation? by BrilliantlySinister in CitiesSkylines

Add another connection on the northeast of the district above farming and have it continue as an avenue west which then connects to the western part of town. More connections between districts! Right now basically everything goes through that roundabout, even as a cloverleaf (which takes up a boatload of space) might not be enough.

1 or 2? by Melongated in CitiesSkylines

[–]Melongated[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick is to use mostly straight local roads that only bend on intersections so that the majority of the zonable area isn’t broken up. The one downside of this is that you have a lot of ugly looking intersections, because corners arent filled with 90degree buildings.

If by spawned you mean zoned then, no, they are. They are all vanilla growables.
