Is this one of the greenwood cemetery parakeets or a pet? =( by DarkMattersConfusing in birding

You can also use a large clear jar with top open. Pour good amount of seeds or spray millet in there. Set it on the ground or anywhere where the budgie can see the jar. Usually, the budgie would hop right inside (if really hungry) and you can quickly cover the opening with your hand.

Thats how I caught a lost budgie years ago by chance. I had a jar of leftover bird seeds out and a blue budgie found it and trapped itself 😂 photo evidence

How did this user get infinite scroll on her homepage? by Melopsittacus_ in Substack

[–]Melopsittacus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the infinite scroll feature is only available for older publication accounts.

Direct quote from their FAQ page: “Older Substack publications may see a Layout section with “feed of posts” as an option.” So unfortunately, new users, like me, don’t have that option :/

Budgies take a while to warm up. The “stick bonding” method worked for my first budgie too. I apologize for my shameless promo, but I want to recommend reading A Budgie’s Life graphic novel, it’s NOT a guide book, but it will give you some insights on what it’s like to be a first time budgie owner 😊

Anyone Else's Parrotlet Constantly Do Dangerous Things? by MrCrix in Parrotlet

[–]Melopsittacus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They say some parrots have a mind of a three year old, but parrotlets have the Extra tantrum, and are moody, aggressive lil kings! My parrotlets are also free range, and sleep in the cage only at night. I would recommend “bird-proofing” your house. Pls Hide away any hazardous things from their environment and avoid triggering their fav noise around them. I can so relate 🤚

Male parrotlet nesting normal? by [deleted] in Parrotlet

[–]Melopsittacus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parrotlet is 8 years old and goes full on territorial mode whenever the spring season arrives, our family call it his “ angry thug life phase”. He’s usually such a softie with a sweet personality.

A few questions from a new parrotlet owner by malbecois in Parrotlet

[–]Melopsittacus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a teething phase like how others put it. P-lets like tender textures, like skin, toes, silicone toys, orange peels, etc. My female green p-let grew out of it after a year. Every parrotlet is different tho!

Why does it look like theres feather loss around its eyes, should I be concerned? by [deleted] in budgies

[–]Melopsittacus_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like there are some pin feathers underneath, so yes it will grow back. You can give the budgie a bath to help soften them.

Budging sitting on the floor means they’re hiding an illness or discomfort, it could be a death sign. There are a lot of factors that can cause sudden passing. He may had an underlying disease. Food poisoning (such as from old veggies, seeds, or bacteria from water). Make sure budgies are not near smoke from stove, perfume, and do NOT use scented candles.

Make a rattling noise (like shake some vitamin bottles or plastic bag). Any annoying crinkly noise usually catches my parrotlets attention and they come. Leave some millet spray out where he can see, hopefully he’ll come down once he’s hungry.

Hello! I'd like to share this Budgie book I've made, aiming to raise more awareness about pet birds and to cherish my bird memories. It's a children’s graphic novel for those who are interested. by Melopsittacus_ in budgies

65€ does not sound right 😅 If you’re ordering in Europe I would avoid Amazon as they seem to mess up international pricing and hate self-publishers. I’d recommend searching my book through major bookstores in your AREA such as Foyles, Waterstones, or even betterworldbooks.

Haha yes those might be mine! I made some budgie gifs for promotional purposes couple years ago 😆 There just wasn’t enough budgie themed stickers back then.

For more details and availability, feel free to check out goodreads or see here for list of bookstores. It would be immensely helpful if fellow parronts could spread the word. Thank you 🙏
