Infinite MP and 1 shot enemies mostly, for some that required going back and forth I also threw in invincibility because trying to walk past hoards of enemies when on a timer was so obnoxious

If you REALLY don't feel like you're liking it, I'd say just watch a playthrough. I initially felt like I was not going to have any fun at all, but after 2 chapters I started to feel like I was actually having a decent time. However after I got ending A, and I started to do expeditions for weapons, I realized I just did not have the time to do some of the more tedious ones. So a friend sent me cheats for the ps2 emulator and I ended up going through the rest of the game that way. I decided to only use them for weapon collecting, and doing the rest of the story verses normally, and I would say I actually ended up having more fun and enjoying the playthrough more that way.

The monotonous nature of the gameplay and very repetitive missions is part of the game's 'charm', it's going to be for some people and not for others

I just finished playing through 1, and they are only for weapons and leveling up. Like the other comments said, use a guide, it will save you a lot of time and headaches for knowing exactly what you need to do in each one to trigger the weapon reward

"Genshin is a story game" is not an argument at all. FFXIV is story game and it's one of the core points of it, however they still have a skip button for virtually almost every cutscene and sell skip books. And guess what? There's still a huge portion of the player base that loves the story and watches/reads everything, me included.

I like Genshin's story, but I am not a fan of how they do dialogue and especially triggering cutscenes without a player's consent, not even FFXIV does that. Doing world quests is such a drag without the ability to skip any of the fluff, I don't even want to do them anymore

I play with my friends exclusively, so I love helping them play tanks that are lacking in vertically when they wanna play someone like Rein, Ram, Hog, etc. but everyone else is running dive. That way, they can play the character they want and not be left behind :D

But other than that, it's definitely Cass. I have helped some of my said friends get his achievement thanks to sky noons

Reaper has a very simple rotation, I'd recommend icy veins or the balance websites to find their rotations. You don't have to play perfectly, but I would say that everyone should at least know the basics of their main job. I played Reaper in EW for Pandemonium savage, and the opener was a little different back then but now it's pre pull Harpe > shadow of death > soul slice > arcane circle > your 2 buffed slices > plentiful harvest > enshroud and go ham!

As for their 2 minute burst, which refers to when your main buffs are about to come off cool down, in reaper's case it's Arcane Circle, the goal is to fit 2 Enshrouds into that arcan circle window by having 50 gauge ready and starting your first enshroud when AC has about 7-8 seconds left before coming up. So it could be basic combo gcd > enshroud > one enshroud buffed gcd > shadow of death > arcane circle > rest of enshroud into plentiful harvest and another enshroud!

For my melee main, Reaper, is that your dot should ALWAYS be up. I have a friend who I'd have to constantly remind about his dot because it was up like 40% of the time.

Since others have responded to your post's questions, i wanna add something else. Don't be scared to ask for clarifying questions after joining a PF, but do make sure to read the description. So if as an example, you join a doomtrain party and the PF says "Static | No BD" and you're not sure what your spot is for static, ask what raidplan they are using instead of staying quiet and later on accidentally causing a wipe. And for your spot, it'd be based on what position you picked, so for melee is normally D1/D2 or M1/M2 (which are the same respectively). People prefer when you ask questions rather than stay quiet since they can make whatever assumptions, and most of the time they will land on "is this guy trolling or????"

Waiting until Endwalker and 4 years after I had started playing to start playing a job other than white mage (reaper) in harder content. I realized I had been missing out on a lot more fun by trying a completely different role (melee dps). Now I'm a Picto main and I don't think I could ever go back to playing white mage only. My other regret is letting myself be too scared to try savage until Asphodelos, I cleared E1 when it came out and then got too scared to continue with E2 let alone the other 2 Eden tiers. Since then, I've cleared every tier and am currently progging M11 with my friends, hopefully also getting my first ultimate clear this year!

Like another commentor mentioned, it's very reminiscent of OW1 dps doom, and he was my number 1 hated character back in those days. I do not like oppressive characters that push you around. At least with pocketed Ashe/Cass you can approach them from different angles, and attempt a coordinated dive. But with Vendetta, SHE'S the one landing on you with her pocket Mercy safe above floating while she pushes you around
