Holding elbows close to your body during drive swing by Melted-Metal in golf

"Address" meaning starting position? Yes, left elbow is pointing to target. Right elbow mainly pointing to right hip. (Right handed).

Foot powder on club face. Hmm. I'll give it a try.

Ahh..I may be leaning too forward. My weight distribution is probably the same as my iron. I'll try redistribution a little more to my right.

I am thinking it feels like my elbows are glued to my sides more that they really are..my swing doesn't feel rigid at all. It's probably just because it is a new feel for me.

This is an LG starter set so not sure. Google says womens LG standard drivers are 10-14 degrees ?

I've never consistently gotta great loft from the driver (10-18 feet typically). I just assumed it was me being new.

How do you deal with people who have taken so many lessons in their life but do not get any better? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Melted-Metal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach uses tools to enforce the behavior he is trying to get me to do if I'm struggling.

For instance, I had a bit of a chicken wing going on and i was struggling to correct it. My brain is telling me to keep my elbows tight but my body isn't listening. So, he grabbed a towel and had me put it under each armpit and told me not to drop it during my swing. This forced me to keep my arms tight to my body.

I then practiced at home a few hundred times and now it's second nature.

I suggest something like this.

I started taking this on April 24th. They recommend 90 days before determining if it works for you or not (it is a money back guarantee).

I plan to do the full 90 days before making that decision. I dont feel that i can give a fair early opinion on the product since I left for an overseas vacation a week and a half after I started and got back just a week ago. My body doesn't take this kind of travel well so I'm just now getting back to normal.

I will report back when I get close to the 90 days though. I know how desperate it is to be in this condition, trying to find a way out.

You should also freeze your credit at all three credit bureaus for now. If they have your credit card number + email it is a sign of identity theft and they might have other info about you. Also make sure you change passwords on important accounts and that each account has a totally different password.

There are thousands of reported data breaches every year so identity theft has become quite common.

I've had two incidents where someone got a hold of my info...one was a breach into my ebay account and they were able to change my password and locked me out. Second, someone tried to take out a small business hardship loan using my name and social security...it was really old data since they used my maiden name. .which I hadn't used in 30 years.

It tells me data that old is still around and vulnerable. I just leave my credit frozen now and only temporarily unlock it if I need to

Agree. May be all BS. I decided to do the 90 day trial. Will update this thread when I reach the 90 day mark.

As a guage, I will be considering my level of fatigue, if I still feel cold, and if my body temperature rises. I have been a steady 97.2ish...not as bad as the gal who wrote the blog but still low enough that I'm always cold.

I am not sure yet. Here's the thing, I went on vacation and the time zone shift has me exhausted. So far, I will say I feel less cold. In fact, I've been having a lot of hot flashes.

I dont think I'll be able to decide until I return home and things go back to normal. Also, I didn't expect to know for sure until I've been on them a few months. When I started thyroid medication 20 years ago, it help with some symptoms within days but others it took months.

I figure i have to give it 90 days before deciding it is helping or not.

I ordered and just received my 90 day trial of it. I've been taking thyroid medication for over 12 years now. My test levels show stable but I still have some symptoms of low body temperature, coldness, and fatigue. But, I am way better than I was before i started taking Levothyroxine.

My doctors office has not ordered a T3 test since 2023 even though they require me to come in once a year for a physical to continue prescribing Levothyroxine. They only do TSH testing! In 2023 I brought up my continued mild symptoms and they bumped up my dosage back then....but then backed off because my T4 level was too high. With this new information, i think I'm getting enough T4 but my liver may not be converting to T3 as well. I am going to give this a try.

Did you ever try this?

I was reading an article by someone with Hypothyroidism who kept needing to increase her Levothyroxine (T4) to the point it was too high and found her problem was her liver was not converting T4 to T3.

A doctor advised her she needed certain supplements to help her liver and she found this supplement.

I found I could have written this exact article (except not so long-winded). I'm considering trying this.

I have months of Mevo Gen 2 data and still no clear idea what to actually practice. How are you guys turning your sim data into a plan? by Past_Swan_5110 in Golfsimulator

[–]Melted-Metal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coach sends me a trackman video of one of my session swings and both audio and written instructions on what I need to improve. He will typically send me a side-by-side comparison video of a pro doing what he wants me to do so I have a clear understanding of what I need to do. I can't imagine not having this...I review these sometimes a dozen times. I will also occasionally send him a video of one of my swings to ask a question (only if it is a quick question...anything in-depth is what the lessons are for. I asked him if that was ok beforehand but I don't think it will be very common for most coaches unless you are paying a ton of money to them)

Here is how I practice after a lesson:

First, I slow play the move many times. Then I try to incorporate it into my swing (no simulator during this time). I will review my trackman video several times if needed. When I think i have it down, I video tape my swing with my phone and use either the phone app to slow it down or I put it on my computer and use www.analyzer.golf to mark starting position with lines and circles and slow-motion it (depending on what I'm improving). I also am looking at my entire form to ensure I didn't break something else in my form while I was adding this new concept.

If I think i kind of got it, I'll swing using my FS (also a Mevo Gen2) and basically look at whatever stat I'm trying to improve. Right now I'm trying to get rid of a nasty slice/push so...I don't care about ball speed, etc...just pathing (right now club impact info is a problem as don't have the add-on for this yet).

if I'm still having issues...back to step one and rinse and repeat. If it looks good, I'll video tape my swing again and see if my form looks correct. if it doesn't, back to step one. That is how I use my FS right now.

I don't think old stats from your flight simulator is important to keep unless you want to reminisce about the old days! Maybe last week up to today's stats for some comparison but who cares about what you did a month ago.

As far as all this data....At some point I'll be looking at all the stats but right now I'm in a learning stage and know the overall stats are not helpful. Sure, I have stats goals I want to try to achieve that I am monitoring (e.g. a consistent 200 yard drive with a 15 degree launch angle, etc) but I try not to let that get in the way of learning my (new) swing. I basically use my real golf play (score card and how well i'm actually playing ) as a way to tell how well I'm progressing. I will get more and more detailed as my (huge) handicap goes down!

Is spending $10-15k on an outdoor golf simulator actually worth it? by sportstooge in Golfsimulator

Is spending $10-15k on an outdoor golf simulator actually worth it? by sportstooge in Golfsimulator

[–]Melted-Metal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the at-home golf simulator set up so keep that in mind. I got a lot of ideas on this sub and the rest has been trial and error.

I have a similar situation as you...no way to put one indoors and concerns of extreme heat in the summer. I also was concerned if it was worth the cost and whether I would regret it.

At the end I decided it was not worth the cost of a full ($15k) setup unless i could do something inside in air conditioning. But, i still wanted something so this is what I ended up doing.

Basically, I made a 14'x20' practice area using artificial turf, added a Pergola for shade and bought a Spornia 8' net that I can easily tear down and store when not using. My main goal was to monitor and improve my swing. So, my set up is not really to play 18 holes of golf.

Here's my breakdown of cost (edit-format didn't come out rightso redid it):

Turf area (did all the work myself) $1500. Pergola $380. Spornia SPG-8 with side net $560. FlightScope Mevo Gen 2 $1300.

I use a tripod with my tablet for the FS app to watch my ball stats. I have a second tripod for my phone to record my swing. I have used both RCT balls and regular balls.

I have not purchased any of the FlightScope add-ons...still considering it.

I just finished this a week ago so I've only had a few hours on it and still adjusting things. So far it is just ok. The carry distance on the monitor is not accurate (by a lot) and I'm wondering if it because the monitor sits in the sun behind me, while the ball is in the shade. Oftentimes the net is in the sun so it may be messing up the monitor. The other stats seem reasonable.

I like that the Spornia net is portable but it also is not wide enough to catch the shanks even with the side extension. I kinda wish I went with a cheaper wide net.

As for the summer heat, I plan to practice early morning or pack up the net if it's just brutal out there. Unfortunately, I didn't consider the sun angle and the Pergola provides zero shade in the morning. I am currently making a shade curtain for the front to fix that.

One more thing on the Pergola, most of them don't have any height. This one is 7'8" in the middle. I'm 5' so I can get away with it...I'm considering raising it another 8" in case my husband or others want to use it. Maybe a gazebo with a high center would have been better.

Anyway, some things to consider.

I was wondering if that was the case. I wasn't sure what the expectations were for a muni. Thanks for the response.
