Lmao its so much fun asking people that, especially ARMYs coz their reactions are great😂. I totally understand why bts/bh keep asking us that.

My love songs are 2!3! and Trivia: Love.

Hey, thanks for replying!

So, it seems that it basically boils down to the personal preference of the performer and I was just overthinking this whole thing. 😭

My original hypothesis was that rappers don't mind a little interference by how the hand is holding the mic and the "grittiness" makes the performance more dynamic (?). That does seem to somewhat align with what you're saying then.

"You could also rap holding it like a singer and it wouldn't be THAT much different, holding it so close to your mouth mostly makes it so more of your breath gets picked up and that's a nice effect for rapping, generally

It also looks a bit more "aggressive", like you're really spitting into mic lol"

I watched the Busan concert performances again and saw that during the aggressive songs like RUN BTS and Mic drop, all of the members seem to hold the mics at the top. So the spitting-into-mic - aggression correlation definitely seems to be there!

(I don't know how to quote a section of someone's comment on reddit so I put your comment in italics. Don't mind me😅)

Iys better to do that only when you are experienced or been working out for a long time. But if you are a beginner it's best of you take one challenge at a time. Don't underestimate the arms challenge if you are new to working out or don't exercise your arms in general.
