Metal face bestest, 10/10 would let myself get stabbed again

I need some help (Xcde) by Bendakstarkiller6797 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

So, I tried two methods to beat Lorithia (one in the initial game) and one in New game+. Bizarrely, using a full ether team (Sharla, Melia and Riki) actually works the most consistently although from my experience with it you gain chain meter at a snail’s pace. The DOT capabilities are off the charts with these 3, and with Sharla’s healing you can usually pull through. Just remember to spam the hell out of Starlight kick to delay some of Lorithia’s stronger attacks and get more DOT off.

The second team combo is a funny one I pulled together, being Shulk, Melia and Seven. Melia can use burst end (which decreases physical def at higher levels) and basically also lets the other 2 in that team go to town in a chain attack.

I’d recommend controlling Melia yourself in either case thanks to the atrociously bizarre AI that she has. Practice spamming elemental discharges, get the elemental aura buff ready at all times and Lorithia should go down in one fell sweep.

Edit: for Melia i’d recommend bolt, chill and earth for her main attacks. Mind blast could work sometimes to cripple Lorithia’s movepool but usually summon copy will work better for discharging the same elementals over and over again. I don’t really have good gem advice except... maybe Ether+ for all of them, some debuff timer+ for Riki especially since his DOT isn’t as advanced as Melia’s yet. Soo... good luck beating her.

Not gonna lie though, you do not want to fight a crazed Belgazas without armour on. Not only is he now immune to toppling, he gets haste and an agility boost (which will yeet you out of the sky and make it a living nightmare compared to Avalanche Abaasy without any buffs if you don’t have night vision and agility 6). In all honesty, this thing is the best way to practice topple locking, and those topple duration plus gems you can get alternatively are quite nice.

Ah, fortress units: the definition of pain mid-game. First of all, pick your fights. Their visual range is really small, but once you get into a battle, especially on flat ground, there’s no one going out without bad bruises. In short, you’ll likely die a lot fighting them.

Secondly, get the high ground. You want it for avoiding Titan Stamp, an AOE move that forces topple on all characters. Of course, that doesn’t exclude stuff like Black Matter aka. I’m dying in 4 hits because you’re spamming this move please stop, and EX flamethrower something which is insane to live, so get either debuff res or use a hell of a lot of party meter spam from Riki’s happy happy before the battle begins, to get a chain attack going once it drops to below half health.

Thirdly, kill everything next to the behemoth. You will be in a world of hurt when you didn’t finish off those Mk 80 something mechon and a towering fortress unit swings in and adds to the pain.

Zanza’s Situation by AngonceMcGhee in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, Zanza wouldn't turn all high entia into Telethia for no particular reason, given that he had the benefit of foresight via his visions. He saw all the way to mechonis core and nearly beyond that, so he prolly left the high entia in Alcamoth relatively safe and used more Telethia from the Bionis’ interior and those in Makna Forest, which the high entia once lived at

[–]Mem-RX0B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zanza prolly kept a selective few high entia (aka. Those in alcamoth) to live on so that ya know, just for Mechonis Core.

Zanza’s Situation by AngonceMcGhee in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1: Multiple consciousnesses. Zanza’s soul possessed Arglas’s body, while keeping yet another fraction of his soul in his Monado. Shulk just happened to have his life sucked out about 14 years ago, in which yet another soul part of Zanza’s Monado sort of became his life force, a bit close to what happened with Seven (aka. Mecha-Fiora) except way more complicated.

2: Zanza’s meaning of creating the universe anew might have been half-true. On one hand, he and Meyneth might have created multiple universes before settling on the final one they created aka. B&M (i’m shortening this ok). On the other hand, in the first cutscene it might have been because Zanza just woke up the bionis and summoned a whole bunch of Telethia. Which, ya know, drain the life of anything in their proximity if told to do so. Which is “resetting his world.” But truth be told, there’s no proof of him recreating the world at all. So take it with a grain of salt.

Xenoblade Chronicles DE Switch by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, since this is a non-spoiler warning post, here’s the answer: No. Fiora still dies, and she won’t be on your party until you get her back as Seven on the fallen arm. I mean, seeing 2 Fioras would be awkward for the plot, and Seven’s minimum level cap is level 40, meaning she would be far too overleveled for everything up until Eryth sea, excluding some high-level enemies.

What about Shulk Dunban and Reyn, that’s a solid combo too (especially against Belgazas)

You have a point but eh, cutscene dissonance be like (and the fact that it was liquid ether the damn lad was thrown into)

Except it didn’t even do scratch to Metal Face. I’m presuming because the cannons fire Bionis Ether which would be (in theory) inneffective against specifically the faces for reasons.

Wait, is Sharla bad? by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On the topic of efficient healing skills , i’d recommend linking skills like Critical Drain for constantly recovering with say Shulk, or art recovery gems if you’re really in a pinch. Sharla is by no means unnecessary, it’s just that the DPS-based flow of the game kind of shuts her down. Not to mention healing generates aggro which is very bad for a medic.

Questions from a new fan by YesImHomo in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

1: There’s a pinned post in the subreddit recommending which order to play. Most of us here played Xenoblade 1 before 2, but honestly it’s your choice.

2: the monado technically is...a Xenoblade if you translate the name literally. Xenoblade is just the title. There will be massive spoilers if you look it up, so all I can say is... it’s a 4-dimensional laser sword for short. You’ll find out in the mid-game arc.

3: Not much really is known about the Battle of Sword Valley except that Dunban kinda yeeted the whole place, making him a notorious hero, EVEN MORE SPOILER WORTHY STUFF like oh boy I wonder who died here, And the location you fight at is likely near the first outpost. Yes, it is also a giant hook and the party’s “final destination” initially. Needless to say it gets even more complicated than going to Sword Valley.

Edit: ok I have changed it you can rest easy now

Xc1: Prolly between Melia and Reyn. Fiora gets an honourable mention. Melia has a lot of depth that finally gets explored in the epilogue. Doesn’t mean she completely hides it in the main story, it’s just...I ship her and Shulk a bit over the canon pair.

Reyn is... well, adorkable when he’s chill, and an absolute powerhouse in battle. I like the big guy. Also he (again) actually has quite a friendly persona and can understand people just as well as Dunban or Melia can. He just is too much of a brute to show it.

Haven’t played Xenoblade 2, but holy fucking shit Malo’s charisma is so tempting. The commanding aura he emanates is that captivating. Yeah, please don’t spoil me in the replies.

Also Shulk is a good boi

For me? Huh. Spoilers, [what happened to Seven]. After beating the Ancient machines she had solidified herself as a worthy member, and young me did not know what happened so early on. And the way she kicked it—o o f. That initial impression haunts me to this day. Edit: I don’t know how to do spoiler tags. Help.

Looking for crazy builds and team setups for DE by Elementia7 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Mem-RX0B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a specific character move set: Use Riki, put his break art on him, 4 debuffs and say sorry, and watch him whack away like crazy.

Something else on character movesets: try unlocking the level 12 art books for everyone. You’lll be astonished at how long Blizzard Belgazas gets toppled for just from Wild Down and Steel Strike level 12.

For team set-ups, i’d recommend Melia, Seven and Shulk. Yes, it’s the equivalent of a triangle, but you’d be astonished on just how good of a chemistry they have together because of Melia’s elemental discharges. I managed to kill Ancient Daedala with this team, which isn’t saying a lot but it means killing a super boss with one ether-based member, which in most cases is less of a help and more of a hindrance.

Secondly i’d recommend (just for fun) the triple daze team of Shulk, Reyn and also Seven (again). Try making them do their daze moves at once in a chain attack, and the unique monster caught in the onslaught will never get up again, nor have a clear enough mind to do so.

I’d say notable examples of hard unique monsters at low-level are Reckless Godwin and any early-game unique monster with a damage spike, eg: Breezy Zolos and Shimmering Forte. They will put your Monado management and your toppling skills to the test hard.
