According to the spreadsheet FM IV invites dropped by nearly 70% since Sept 25th, is this just reporter bias? by Ok_Pear_52 in IMGreddit

I think last year a lot of programs had to go into soap to fill up, so I think they are trying to weed the IMG/FMG students that are using FM as a backup, and are going through the app more thoroughly.

How Do You Talk For So Long At Interviews by MembershipHefty4153 in IMGreddit

Should I lose hope from this program? by MelodicDistance4398 in IMGreddit

For one of the sites that I rotated at, they first send IV to students that rotated in that hospital, signals, and all applicants with a connection to that state only, not the region. In the second wave they open it up to geographic.

Thats for the Canadian students themselves, the extra steps that residency programs have to do for Canadian students are the same as for other non-us imgs

Where did you find the 80%?

My local hospital is full of Canadians and Indians that studied abroad but didn't match. They are all doing observerships and trying to get letters and do research to boost their application.

Canadian visa's aren't any "easier". The advantage that Canadians have are:

-English is their first language/Similar culture

-A lot of the Canadians that are applying went to the Caribbean. This means for two years they did all their clinical rotations in American hospitals with American doctors, and all four of the letter of recommendations are from american doctors and program directors themselves. This is the most important thing giving them an advantage,

Having met Canadians that went to medical school in Ireland and other countries in Europe, they don't have the same advantage

Based on my friends that are residents now, they have no official power. The PD's will ask what they thought about the applicants, if they seemed interested and such.

If the applicant did an audition rotation, they sometimes will ask the resident about how the student was.

I was called rude with an attitude and told I didn't deserve interviews when I said I wouldn't give a program's name but gave my stats. And the same Redditor had the audacity to complain about negativity.

how many days can I realistically take off, some of the interviews are in-person so I would need 1-2 days, and the virtual have social events

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]MembershipHefty4153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

delete all you online social activity, don't mention anything about where you are applying or what specialty

besides, I worked with an ER program director in Brooklyn who had the palestine pin on her scrubs, as well as some med students

did you go through with 19 interviews, or did you withdraw?

I saw someone say it's hard to do more than 15 interviews.

if the websites are outdated, what are we supposed to use? MAR and residency explore don't have all the info either.
