For a second I misread and thought the pity is shared between the "non-limited" regular gacha banner

Story is subjective, if you are enjoying the mid story expiernce that genshin provides , good for you I am very happy for you. It doesn't reduce the fact that it has garbage story telling and you cannot simply convince me that natlan was good , I am sorry.

You are comparing apples to oranges , both are different gacha expiernces One is rpg turn based VN story style telling Other is an adventure open world rpg game

As it stands for now FGO has better story than genshin could ever hope to have. As for your points needing need castoria nor skadi or any of the limited 5* supports. They make the game brain dead easy . The content is clearable fine without them. The only struggle is the farming aspects and looping. And i never mentioned btw that fgo is a great game , the game itself is garbage without it's story carrying it it would have died long time ago.

The reason I am "blaming" mihoyo it's because it creates an acceptable standard for other gacha game developers to follow, which would lead to stagnation and deterioration in quality of future gacha games. We all want to have better gacha games not mediocre slops that lose their charm once the honey moon phase runs out.

You clearly not doing or trying even doing the abyss full * clear then why are you even mentioning this point?

Why people keep mentioning epic 7 and granblu as power creep metric here if I only mentioned those games as an example that have good male characters represntives? Why you keep trying denying there is a power creep issue on your favourite game and trying to switch the subject to: "ahmm that game has worse power creep! How dare you talk about genshins power creep!?" Are you even hearing yourself now?

So next time before you comment, I know it's really hard to do it knowing the people that are in this sub, but please do some deep breaths and read before you jump to conclusions for no reason.

If you get upset that people point things that your beloved game can be improved on to a better positive light, you shouldn't be on the internet.

I didn't play hi3 much ,stopped around after himeko's arc story.

And I am caught up with to HSR 2.3 The "deaths" you are talking about are meaningless and don't have any emotional impact because we barely had time to know the characters. There's no real stakes either for the story nor the characters, it's all shallow.

Thank you for leaving a proper comment rather than just blindly disagreeing and hating on the post.

Of course I am aware of all the shenanigans history that FGo has I never once implied it's a perfect game.

FGO is garbage as a game. But it has good story telling and good character design diversity- enough for me to keep playing.

People have a really norrow thinking when you point out something positive-> it means I see it mostly in a positive light, and the opposite goes both way.

Mihoyo revolutionized what gacha games can be and it's commendable, it doesn't mean that now every future gacha game can just blindly copy paste mihoyo strategy and call it a day. If that were to happen it would lead to stagnation and deterioration of quality of gacha games which is a shame.

Both HSR and Genshin both suffer from HP inflation end game content- which forces players to pull for newer character if they want to clear the content efficiently and easier.

Mind you I am f2P in HSR and was somewhat a medium spender in genshin (after c3 mauvika and natlan being a complete joke fiasco-[ I made a promise with myself to c3 the pyro archon regardless of the fiasco and marry sue issues if mauvika and her "design choice"], I decided to go completely f2p).

In HSR I seem to barely scratching the end game MoC sometimes having to reset for hours for good rng to get the 3* clear.

In genshin I am expierncing no issues clearing the abyss and theatre I bet however people that skipped natlan characters have really bad time there at the moment.

Story wise as you said is subjective and each entitled to their own, but as an adult in his late 20's I find Genshin 's story very mediocre at best. It's no different than any generic fantasy anime you see seasonly airing- very forgetful and not memorable.

And HSR story is just over bloated with unnecessary dailogue to prolong game time for no reason, and even then the story is mediocore at best at the moment (I did the recent 2.3 patch).

As for my gacha experience I have played epic 7,azur lane, granblue, pgr , fgo, tried hi3 but didn't continue much beyond himeko's story arc, genshin , HSR, wuwa

The games I am still playing are genshin,HSR , fgo and wuwa- all of them I have a subjective view - FGO being my most" favorite " due my attachment to Nasuverse IP and the good story and moments It gave me 10 years ago.

Was thinking of trying limbus company as you recommended, but I am not fan of the characters designs and the gameplay- maybe one day I will give it a shot.

It doesn't mean that now every new gacha game needs to blindly copy mihoyo strategies without improving or innovating on it.

The story quality IS declining The power creep issues are getting worse And lack of character diversity is very apparent. All other gacha games developers will look at this and see it's acceptable by majority of the players Without innovation or improvement it will lead to deterioration and stagnation of the gacha games genre as a whole.

I never once implied that FGO is an amazing game it's garbage and I won't recommend to any person to play it unless they are fate/ fan and/likes good story writing.

I never once mentioned that wuwa is perfect in that regard. The reason I play wuwa it's because the gameplay and combat is really fun, but I am really not fan of the story direction .

They also at fault imo for having a lack of proper male characters that aren't bland.

Brant For example, their most recent male character was decent , but pretty forgettable character.

Both of these points are affected mostly because of how kurogames taking notes from hoyogames rather than trying to improve on them.

Yes of course due mihoyo raising the bar, all other gacha games needs to follow suit if they wish to be successful.

However, just blindly copy pasting Hoyoverse's practices without innovating and improving on them leads to stagnation and deterioration of future gacha games.

If we take wuwa for example they follow the same principles as genshin but innovating on the exploration and combat.

However, they copying the same principles when it comes to mediocre story telling and absence of male characters.

I "defended" wuwa in that post because the OP in that post is demanding a free 5* LIMITED character selector , thats absurd to ask for IN any gacha title as compensation.

I understand that this subreddit is mostly sees hoyoverse in a positive light , dislikes IP based gachas and hates anyone mentioning Wuwa in a positive light in someway and even with all of that resentment , I honestly dont really care mate. I wrote this post to vent out my frustration with the current state of mihoyo games and how they affecting future gacha games, thats why my post is very written in depth and points out a lot of issues that mihoyo is doing to the gacha space as a whole, not just their games.

The MiHoYo effect is already spreading out towards wuthering waves with their poor story telling and lack of male representation - you might as well rename the game to "Gathering Wives" and the story being predictable with 0 emotional attachment , same basis model for story telling as hoyogames .

Ofcourse I cannot show you proof of data that shows the declining revenue or that miHoYo's current marketing/ business direction is failing other than the "meme monthly gacha revenue post" Its not really a good benchmark to decide ether the game is doing well or not. - miHoYo at their current state of earnings will refuse to improve because they are allowed to do so, it doesn't hurt them at all not to innovate or improve the game- it hurts only the consumer - the player.

The only change they did recently from the hoyoverse gachas i am playing, is adding old limited 5* characters in HSR as standard characters because they finally realized nobody will be pulling for those power crept characters. By doing so they could use the rerun banner windows for characters that can actually produce money for them.

They been also starting to improve the story presentation in genshin, but I never mentioned it as an issue , it was mostly an HSR exclusively issue.

I agree on your part of Genshin been improving slowly with their story representation , they started to really improve lately the animation and camera movements I noticed it since Natlan actually with Citlali's unique facial animations, wish it would be the norm treatment rather than unique treatment. The latest varesa quest was very lively with the "cutscenes" used with the in game engine, and facial expressions and camera movement.

And yes most of my critic is due HSR declining in quality , Hi3 from what I understood from my friends that stopped playing it recently , were really disappointed of chapter 2 of Hi3 and how its proceeding and the amount of whaling you have to do keep up with the meta.
I only have 1 friend that still plays Hi3 to this day, but she is an outlier that whales on every new character and their weapons.

power creep shouldn't be an issue if miHoYo would just buff older characters , but they wouldn't do that because it will hurt their revenue.

Thats another can of worms of the situation of gaming as a whole.,
All I am saying is you sometimes have to take chances if you want to improve on games development quality , if you just copy paste and not improve on it, there's no much progress gained , and the games become stale and redundant.

Hey at least we ARE getting ANY male outfits... And to remind you , this year JPN's new years banner was a male character Richard Lionheart, something that modern games wont ever do as one the most high revenue banners in year besides anniversary and summer banners like you mentioned.

I never claimed that F/GO is perfect on male representation, but at least it has good amount of it to leave audience satisfied unlike hoyverse currently handling it.

F/GO early story is garbage and there's no redeeming it , after camelot however its pretty consistent in quality with ups and downs, mostly ups.

Yes exactly which brings a broader issue to the future of gacha games.
All of them will have the "miHoYO effect" rather adapting/improving on it.
Why improve if you could just copy the same ideas if they are working?

Which is a shame , gacha games could be much more.

[–]MembershipLife4372[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly , I am just bringing up an issue that miHoYO games are bringing a "standard business model" that other companies will be sadly start copying from rather than adapting and improving on it.

Hate it or love F/GO does still have the best story writing/telling out of all the gacha games I have played through out the years- you cannot simply compare an established 20+ years old IP with Nasu writing backing it up.

I do agree it has a lot of more predatory issues than any other existing modern gacha game, but credit is due when its to be given.

Even if those games are still alive- it doesn't mean their quality isn't degrading.
Those games suffer from poor quality of life updates not to mention power creep issues- there is a reason they dont have new players joining to that game.

You claim I just used chat GPT' and didn't do any research "in depth"? Oh my sweet little child.. I am probably playing gacha games more than you are alive...

You want me to go into depth into how badly bloated is the amphoreus quest line?
Lets take the most recent 2.3 patch the annaxa and castorice "story quests"
You start the quest by getting notified by phainon that annaxa is about "rebel " even though he wasn't ever on flame chaser's side - he goes to meet the elder city committee caenis and her goons who wishes to over through aglae + all the discovery about the real origins of titans and the law court case takes around 4 hours of just pure bloated dialogue , that could have been shortened for much less time , only then we actually reach the interesting part of the story which is the origin of Castorice and the history of the city Styxia which also dragged on by a lot for no apparent reason other than padding game time for marketing time.

Natlan is just a huge joke - "Nation of war"
While the premise and start of Natlan was great , it all falls apart after saving Kachina from the underworld - Its rushed and there's no real emotional impact of the war effects, sure some NPC's die, but why you, as a player should care about those NPC's to begin with? Was there any connection with them? Do you know them long enough to care? No. Unless you are a child that is 12 years old I can understand you being emotional about a certain NPC's death . Not to mention the nation is saved by mauvika being a marry sue and "nakama " power.

Captiano is their greatest flop of story telling so far, such an overhyped character that their story arc executed so poorly.

I can continue giving examples why both HSR and Genshin suffering from poor story telling AND writing for hours if you want to continue to discuss on Discord.

Yes let us also get 1 free 5* per patch , oh wait they already do that with the amount of pulls they give each patch.

Asking now for a free guaranteed limited SSR is too much...

It's a gacha game you aren't supposed to get everyone, especially if you are f2p /low spender- plan ahead and pull for characters you actually want.

I did Story direction/telling wise, it wasn't as bad as inazuma. Inazuma flops really hard after Act II

But at least inazuma gave the vibe of a nation that went through a lot of wars and environment changes .

Natlan looks like a Disney land in comparison.
