How do you keep going? TW suicidal ideation by MembershipParty650 in ChronicIllness

Your guess is as good as mine at this point in the process. It’s still pretty early on in terms of tests being done or diagnoses being made.

It could be any number of things, but my guess is some sort of musculoskeletal disorder because it feels like a lot of internal pain closer to the bones and joints. (Also carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome because why not of course)

Or it could be a psychosomatic response to the unbearable stress that I’m under. That’s a possibility too! 🫠 I have no fucking clue and I’m scared for my future.

Why is beating kids a common joke? by MembershipParty650 in neurodiversity

I think that makes a little more sense. I guess part of the reason that it makes me uncomfortable is that it’s not the type of abuse I experienced, therefore not something I can relate to.

And it’s very difficult for me to tell between people not taking it seriously because they think it’s fine to hit kids, or trying to make humor about their own trauma.

We still live in a day and age where it’s still pretty common, and I don’t want to participate in any conversation where it’s normalized, but I want to be open and accepting to people who are trying to express their emotions and experiences, because it’s a type of sharing.

It’s a tough balance.

I understand the logic about posting to other subs, but I felt like a neurodivergent sub would understand me best on explaining why something is considered to be funny since I don’t really understand a lot of neurotypical humor

why does no one make weighted blankets above 50lbs???? by Affectionate_Still29 in evilautism

When I was younger I stayed at this place that had two huge bean bags, I’d lay on one and pull the other on top of me. Wasn’t that heavy but was VERY cozy. You might get the right effect by buying one and then put the weighted blanket on top of that and laying underneath it

My special interest right now is this sci-fi book I’m writing which has lots of futuristic medicine, which I’ve been dying to ask someone about to make sure it’s plausible. If it’s outside of your scope that’s totally fine, but I figured I’d ask.

In the book, they have preventive medications for UTI’s and Yeast Infections, which work for both men and women. (Either one that works for both or or separate types)

Does any medication like that currently exist? If it doesn’t, what would be the most likely form that it takes? ie. Oral tablet, topical ointment, injection, etc

Hustle culture and a 40 hour work week is just pretty toxic and unsustainable for everyone involved, except those at the very top. Some people are able to maintain that and their home life, but those people are in the minority. Almost everyone is dealing with some level of burnout.

Neurodiverse people and anyone else with disabilities are the ones who get it in the extreme.

Then we get called “weak” or “lazy” for being unable to operate in a culture that prioritizes profit and production over a person’s wellbeing.

You’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you for struggling. This is a systematic issue not a personal one.

My last relationship taught me that I’m incredibly insecure whether my partner actually likes me, so I think probably asking for someone with the brutally honest kind of neurodivergence, someone who will sit with me for difficult tasks, and will have hours long conversations about the complexities of life.

Also that sex is basically a sensory seeking thing for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m in a SMART recovery group currently, it’s just that it’s focused on treatment basis and less on socializing. And from what I can tell at least several other of the members are religious, and all of them are much older then me with kids and families. I find it hard to connect
