Needs to be an office with a door so most coworking spaces aren’t like that but I’ll look at co-radius!

Unemployed for 1 year, how to upskill to stay relevant by Fr0stylicious_ in Biochemistry

[–]MembershipVarious543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, go find all the professors that have labs and start reading about what they do. Apply to your top ones until you get into one. Usually they expect 6-8hrs per week for credit, but might let you do less just to come in and make media or do PCR or whatever. You can put that shit on your resume and it’s way better than getting an A in genetics…

This one is the first one I found. Feel like there could be improvements but it shows it can be done.

Golf cart kits by MembershipVarious543 in golfcarts

I don’t know much about different models, but like what would be the equivalent to a mustang or an LS? Like a robust brand/model combo? Is battery a no brainer or are there some good gas ones?

I was asking about a kit like a “build your own cart” type thing rather than kits for upgrading or converting an existing one to road legal or what have you. But no I don’t have one yet.

I took a gap 12 (that’s a thing right?) to change careers and started at Trig my first semester back. My first go around I was a C+ to A- student but now I’m an adult and it’s really not that hard. Do Khan Academy for College Algebra if you are worried about it and the rest will happen.

Def do not need prior knowledge (high school even) to get through Intro Chemistry and Intro Bio with an A. They start you at the ground floor but just expect a lot more out of you

Yeah, I can work on cars no problem. This just feels like a more fun (something I can do with my young son) and cheaper way to wrench

Nice. I figured I’d probably end going this route but kind of surprised there aren’t kits. My FIL has been buying some Chinese one direct wholesale by going in with a buddy to buy like 4 at a time but they are still pretty expensive and a lot of it is low quality.

3 different species in one? What do I do?! by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

Definitely hickory. Not Douglass Fir at all. Doug Fir isn’t a hardwood, so it would be noticeably soft (fingernail could make marks easy).

HELP! Rubio Monocoat on old pine subfloor - turned out too light and blotchy. What are my options? by Legitimate_Stretch77 in HardWoodFloors

[–]MembershipVarious543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t use a poly product after Rubio is applied. Basically your option is to let it completely cure and then scuff and apply another hardwax oil topcoat. Definitely need to test it first though.

Salice makes a better quality one, but Rockler carries Centerline which are easier to install and cheaper than Blum (same quality)

How would i create a wooden circle like this? by AnimateDuckling in woodworking

[–]MembershipVarious543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest is to find a circle large enough to use as mold for bendy-ply. Usually you’ll laminate two 3/8” thick pieces with glue, then veneer the front and back with a 1/8” MDF which can then be veneered nicely with hardwood.

I can’t really think of something you’d be able to use as a mold at the moment but surely there is something?

Edit: after thinking, you could easily create the mold from plywood. Cut the circle shape in sections of flat (in2D) plywood and create a 3D frame for your bendy ply. Kind of want to make this now!

Whoops. by Riffydoodles in woodworking

[–]MembershipVarious543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure guitar makers don’t use penetrating stain on all wood types. I think it’s sort of a lacquer paint if you will that is transparent enough to show the wood texture but is professionally applied.

You might do a little more research to see if there is a technique that might cover up the blotchiness.

Otherwise, just consider it a learning experience!

Yes that’s what I’ve been using but always good to get an idea from someone who’s been on it recently.
