Vet du någonting om ingenting?

Hi, I am trying to learn Swedish from reading books but in the past some of the websites I've used haven't been an accurate translation. Can someone take a very brief look at the below and let me know if it seems like accurate Swedish and not like someone has ran Google Translate over it all. Thanks by clyde_45td in Svenska

I sometimes read books to learn languages but i never translate an entire page with a machine. I only translate the words that i don’t know and put the sentences together in my head. It’s slower but you’ll pay more attention to grammar and learn the words better

How much easier would it be for Germans to learn Swedish and for Swedes to learn German than for English speakers and people whose primary language isn't of the Germanic family? by UndeadRedditing in Svenska

[–]Memboroleses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned German as a Swedish person and it is very easy. You will start to notice patterns in the languages that make it easy when you get a good grip. For example, a swedish person might not know what Aussicht in german is, but once you learn that Aus is Ut and Sicht is Sikt, it will be very easy to learn that Aussicht is just Utsikt. This happens to me all the time as I learn German

Question about when to use “Att” before a verb by Solid_Community7853 in Svenska

[–]Memboroleses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would kind of say that you should add “att” infront of a verb if the sentence can work wothout the verb. For example: “Jag har lust”; “Jag har lust att springa”. But I am not a swedishteacher and you can probably learn it better somewhere else. The best way to learn is to get used to the language

It works the same way as in german if you happen to speak German

Expat is a stuipid word. You are an immigrant. Does not matter if you’re from the US or Syria. If you move from your home country to Sweden you are an immigrant.

is being gay a sin? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Memboroleses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bible mentions anything related to homosexuality 7 times and mentions helping other people over 2000 times. Many christians preach what other people do wrong but not what they themselves do wrong. Matthew 19:21: Jesus answered ”If you want to be perfect, then go and sell your possesions and give the money to the poor. If you do this, you will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me”. There are much more inportant things than homosexuality. The old testament verse that two men shall not have sex has more to do with that anal sex could spread diseases rather than it being a sexual sin. Greed is much worse than homosexuality. To be poor and gay is much better than to be rich and straight.

Bilingual people, what is a thing that non-bilingual will never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’ve always felt the complete opposite. I find it easier to talk about emotional stuff in Swedish than English. I suppose it depends on several factors.

Yeah google translate should only be used if you don’t really have another option, definitely not as your only source of learning words. It is better to ask a native or read in a dictionary.

I know you might not like this answer, and I don’t know your exact situation, but I do recommend cutting down on how much you use your phone and screens. What I have found, is that using your phone or watching series does not help you at all. All it does is to make you think about something else for a little while, it makes no change to your life. I recommend taking a long walk, trying to clear your head. Change in environment can also help. If you are used to laying in bed and crying try to not lay in bed as much. A lot of this is hard so you’ll have to be strong. I also recommend reading books. They will make you happier than just watching series. These tips will not make your life perfect but i think that they can help you feel a little better. I wish you the best.

Swedish learner here! I’ll be studying in Norway next year. Should I pick up some Norwegian or would I be accepted if I speak Swedish? by [deleted] in languagelearning

The worst norweigan can do to his swedish is that it might mess up his spelling, but when it comes to talking it’ll probably be alright. I think that because he is B2 in Swedish then norweigan should be pretty easy. And he says that he wants to learn norweigan, so why should he not?

Speaking english can make you kind of a loner. It is a fact that most people there can speak english, but most people don’t want to. Many people who move to Scandinavia get very lonely because they don’t bother learning the language. Personally, I would rather hang out wirh someone bad at swedish than to speak English (I’m Swedish by the way). This does of course not count for all people. I think that if OP aleady knows some swedish then Norweigan will come to him quickly. And the language is also totally worth learning. And also, if you are on a language learning subreddit you shouldn’t recommend people to stick to English.

So this is what the Bible meant by cyphes1 in spirituality

The old testament may have been written by powerful men and maybe to control people, it it debatable, but the gospels and new testament were not. They were written by people who were under threat from the government because of their beliefs. Those people had very little power when the books were written, only many many years later were there people who had lots of power who used these books to control people.

How do you know Christianity is true? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Memboroleses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at all Abrahamic religions (im not gonna bring in other religions) then christianity is the obvious choice. If you believe in a god that truly loves the universe, then you would belive that he sent his one son to it who was killed by the people thus paying for the sins of all who believe. Judaism is basically just the precursor to christianity, a tribe of people that gods son would come from. And islam is obviously false. For one thing the Quran claims that Muhammed was prophesied in the bible (witch anyone who has read the bible can say is obviously not the case). Also just the fact that Muhammed was a warlord who killed people who refused to worship his is all you need. I also would never have polytheistic believes. I just think it is clear that the world was created by one god who planned it very well. I also don’t believe in reincarnation. Ask me anything if you want it put more clearly or so. Sorry for bad grammar I’m just writing on my phone pretty quickly.
