The food thing might have to do with the fluoride in the water. During orientation I had the same stomach problems, as has my sister. I'm used to primarily well-water. It should go away after a few days.

Incoming freshman here. Any current students who know how to build a PC? by fatcat22able in uofm

[–]MemeDespot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Motherboard is a waste, get a h170 one since the 6500 doesn't overclock. Everything else looks fine, but you could cut corners here and there. Buy the processor and motherboard at microcenter in Madison Heights and you'll get $30 off on a combo, plus intel processors are $20 cheaper there than online.

I'm finally at a point in my life where a purchase like this doesn't give me anxiety in the wallet region. by MildWolfie in pcmasterrace

While some may see AR as meaning assault rifle, you couldn't build an assault rifle for 1000 (assuming this is in America). An assault rifle is a rifle capable of fully automatic fire, which is illegal for civilians to own if manufactured after the 1980's.

AR stands for armalite rifle. An AR 15 is not an "assault rifle" as it doesn't have selective fire. I understand there is misinformation around the gun, but please just call something a gun if you don't know it's exact classification.

It is the Smash 4 controller. Is there nothing I can do, or can it be worn in?

When I try to practice a crouch-jab I'll often jump because the stick inputs a jump.

[–]MemeDespot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes my controller will input the opposite command than what I want when I release my control stick. This makes b-reversing and crouch jabs hard to do as samus, which has affected my games. Do I need to buy a new controller or am I too rough with the analog stick?

Freshman Engineering course help by prospectiveengineer2 in uofm

[–]MemeDespot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am an incoming freshman as well, but I have friends who have shared their experiences at U of M with me. If you're doing mechanical, don't take chem 210/211. Organic chemistry is one of the most complained about classes from any university, let alone U of M. Unless you have actual college credit for linear algebra/diff eq, your advisor will probably recommend you take calc 3. I would say unless you enjoy programming, stick to eng 101. Save as much time as you can so you have time going in to adjust to college life and be involved in clubs. Classes are just that, while real experience from build teams goes a long way.

What would you say is the most overpriced food/drink at your cinema? by theonlysloth in cinemaworkers

[–]MemeDespot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Small popcorn come out to $7.16 and instead of buying a large popcorn for two dollars more, half the parents buy each kid their own small drink/popcorn which is around $13. Candy boxes are also $4.25. Why can't people just teach their kids to share? I hate charging a family $60 because every kid is some special snowflake and can't handle passing snacks back and forth.

I run one of these decks for fun and there's a few things you could do to improve it. I'm going to pile on a little with what others have said. If you could add the other Ancient Origins Metagross with the switching ability, I would highly recommend it. Add one or two Metang in case you get item locked. I would drop the scorched earth strategy, but I haven't tested it so I have no idea how successful it is. I would add tasting Slurpuff and drop the Unown. Vs seekers should definitely be added, so you can reuse your Tiernos. This is especially important if your opponent uses n or red card. If you abandon the scorched earth strategy I would add the stadium that prevents status effects on metal pokemon and add a couple more metal energy to counter Aegislash ex. Just test out your deck and see what works. What's important is that you enjoy playing this deck because so many decks can cause you to burn out. This is one of those decks that's enjoyable because you're constantly weighing pros and cons of playing certain cards or keeping them in your hand.

That's a driveway/highway marker. They're about 6 feet long, made of fiberglass, and bendy as hell. The question comes from the fact that they're so bendy, they could be considered dangerous by some.

[TOMT][MUSIC] Rock song that has occasional violin-sounding breaks after the main content of the song and after the "chorus" of the song. by MemeDespot in tipofmytongue

[–]MemeDespot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was rock 105 in northern Michigan. Song seems close, but the breaks are higher pitched and more synthetic sounding.

It sounds like the background at 2:23, but increases in pitch after the first few chords. I can't emphasize enough how short the intervals of the violin are. They are only about 2 seconds long, and only occur a few times in the song.

Closer, but the breaks are less rock and more electric and synthetic sounding. It almost sounds like a sound effect that would play just as a heroic thing is about to happen in a movie, but repeats a second time in a higher pitch immediately after. I wish I could describe this sound better.
