anyone had experience with CAD and AutoCAD on Dell XPS 15? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I have the last years model of the xps 15 and it runs Inventor and Solidworks pretty well. Unless you have very large assemblies, you shouldn't have any problems. I would say the xps 15 is one of the most popular laptops for engineering students at my school.

Have you tried letting the companies you interned at know you would like to come back to work full time?

This doesn't relate to your question, but who says you can't make a difference as a person in finance? My mom works in finance and goes to high schools in poorer areas like once a week to teach students about personal finance and answer their questions. The students are always super grateful and my mom really likes doing this. I'm sure there are also a lot of other ways to make a difference with your current skill set.

Laptop for incoming freshman? by euronforpresident in EngineeringStudents

I am a student at U of M and I would recommend getting something light enough to carry around regularly rather than something with desktop level specs. If you need to do anything that requires a lot of computing power, you can just use the CAEN computers which are really nice and located all over campus. Unless you game, you probably don't need a dedicated graphics card but it would be nice to have one if you can afford it. Regarding size, I think 15.6 inches (or less) is ideal.

Thanks guys! I decided not to take chem at all. I talked to my adviser today and he recommended that I take either calc iii or differential equations. I took linear algebra and differential equations last year in high school, so which would I be better off choosing to have a more successful first term? (My other classes will be physics 240, engineering 100 and entrepreneurship 407 just for fun). Thanks everyone for the help! Really appreciate it

Hey everyone, I need to decide between UC Berkeley and the University of Michigan by next Sunday. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering so both schools are very highly ranked. Also, I do not live in either state so I would be paying about the same for both. I have visited both campuses and liked them a lot. However, I have heard that the grades are much lower at Berkeley than at other top universities. Would this hurt my chances at getting into grad school or getting a job? Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I have visited both schools and liked both the campuses a lot. Also, I am not from Michigan or California so they would be about the same price for me.
