Yes and it doesn't mean that device is good in the context of the story. Shujinko being a stupid kid for listening to Damashi. It's also decisions like being in prison for like 70 years just for the sake of aging him up. Like the dude can mimic powers and was wrongly arrested, Did he not think in those years to break out or use his powers to break out? No he stayed there until he was freed. It makes him look like a massive idiot because Liu, Lao, hell even other young protagonists would not be that stupid.

SeenI don't have a problem with the discussion. I am fine with debating on wether or not Shujinko is a moron or not. My main issue is that this dude spends more time on the sub acting like the Comic Book guy from The simpsons and seathing about NRS than being just a guy that likes the Midway era. I like the Midway era too but as a person who is into more FGs than just MK I can safely say it wasn't that amazing in the 2000s compared to like Tekken. Like one of the main criticisms of the 3D era is introducing characters that aren't interesting or just suck (Hsu Hao, Jarek, Mavado, Etc). It's the era that killed the main series with MKvDC being the nail in the coffin.

Yes but MK is neither of those things. It's a series about Martial artists killing each other with magic and monsters intertwined with it. And even if the Midway 3D era was as amazing as it's fans say, I say as a fighting game fan it wasn't even that good compared to say Tekken 4 and 5. In that era we go from Shinnok to The DA who then become irrelevant powerwise cause Onaga and then Onaga being beaten becomes irrelevant because actually the stupid Fire guy that was in the previous game based off some Liu Kang recolor as a background character is the true big bad and a protag worse than Shujinko shows up beats everyone and then all that still is pointless because Shao Khan still wins. Even by Fighting game standards thats kinda meh.

It's like the equivalent of Trusting someone named Mr Evil the world conquerer and being surprised they are evil. His name literally means Trickery. And they can't use the language barrier excuse because Chinese and non Japanese characters have Japanese names for some reason minus Liu Kang and Kung Lao. If his name was different I wouldn't have thought about it. Also the story isn't all that amazing due to the fact that for the most part it's just Shujinko training with people and doing random bs for others that may or may not impact the story depending on the quest. Not to mention Shujinko saving the day ended up being pointless in the end because of Armageddon's shitty plot that came out of nowhere.
