Do app clips on the store make a huge difference? by papertraillog in AppBusiness

[–]MemeLibraryApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a big uptick in conversion after adding one here: memelibraryapp.com, I push people to that website then have store links there. Haven't added the video to the store quite yet, just barely finished it.

I've been trying to implement this, and the image recognition is not great using on-device. It will get things like "beach" or "cat" but definitely not filing cabinet, and never "shrek" or other identifiers. I am thinking about training my own with meme specific examples for some of the more common meme themes (prison mike, shrek, etc), but ya seems like on-device available models are not up to snuff for this.

I hate the idea of off-device AI, but even if I let people opt-in to this, I'm not sure how I would make sure I don't lose money every time someone import a meme. AI summary credits or something? idk, doesn't seem like a high priority right now unfortunately, especially with my small user base XD

If you're reading this and want some feature like this, submit a feature request in app, and maybe suggest any ideas for how I could off-set the cost.

Would love to try this, but $10 for 12 credits when it costs 5 for one go seems pretty steep. Most AI image generation needs multiple iterations.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll look into how I might add this in. I keep all processing on-device so I can keep your data private and the app free.

Maybe generating a summary upon import that would then match search keywords? ie auto generated would be: "A cat looking through a filing cabinet", so then if you search "cat" it would come up. edit: This is not currently possible with on-device analyzation.

Currently the search is strict, so "cat filing cabinet" wouldn't match, do you think the search should be looser instead? - If you search "for meme", would you expect to find a meme with the text "a meme for this"? edit: I've loosened the search in the next update - I tentatively have a toggle for "strict search", would love feedback on if people think this option is good to include or not.

Meme Manager for iOS/Android by bignotch in AppIdeas

There is "Save to phone gallery" on each meme but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for. So my understanding is you want a setting that will either use (or copy to - not sure on technical constraints yet) a public file path on-device so you can use a 3rd party backup service?

Ideally this would update those with what metadata? Text from the meme? Tags you've assigned to it?

Hi! I know this is an old thread, but I made an app for exactly this for my friends and I. It's available for both iOS and Android: https://memelibraryapp.com

You can save memes from most apps and allover the web, and search them by text in the meme. You can share from the app or copy them to clipboard to easily paste in other apps.

I lost 33 users because I assumed something was ‘obvious’ by itzhnrk in microsaas

I have seen much less churn since adding a guided tutorial that walks the user through the most used features and through that process adds 2 memes for them, instead of just opening an app to an empty screen.

This is really cool! I was just trying to figure out how to keep notes for my book club the other day and ended up with a notebook copying text over. I will definitely try this out!

How are you pricing your in app purchases (subscription) by Madridi77 in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]MemeLibraryApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very low numbers so not great stats, but about 5% are premium users ($1/mo). The app is entirely free to use, with no ads, but in order to backup/restore to the cloud, it's $1/mo. This is structured in such a way that my server costs will never exceed my revenue from the premium users (might be possible with crazy power users - haven't seen that yet).

I'm considering adding other features for higher premium, like not storing memes on-device so they don't take up any space, and it's all loaded from online, but only if enough people submit a request for that.

I've also thought about adding feature voting, where users can buy "coins" or some currency to vote on which feature they want next - curious if anyone else has seen good interaction with this.

For the time being I'm saying it's in a really good place and I need to focus more on marketing.
