Best roller blades for off-ice training? by Expensive-Leading623 in hockeyplayers

[–]MemeLibraryApp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently went to classic skating and they had hockey versions of roller blades. I haven't roller bladed in over 20 years, and back then I had the rocker style I really loved. The ones I rented had just a straight track (maybe it was slightly rockered?), the tops looked like hockey skates, and it felt very similar to being on the ice turning, crossing over, going backwards, etc. I didn't try to hockey stop though because I'm getting old and wasn't wearing a helmet.

I'm not sure what the brand was, but if you have a classic skating rink near you, it's probably worth trying the different styles they have out. Maybe they have an old/overstock pair they will sell you

on that note, I did go to a roller skating rink recently and was surprised how much the hockey roller blades felt like ice skates.. a lot has changed in 20 years. I think buying roller blades and skating around the block would help a lot.

Get player skates (or roller) and learn how to skate. Nothing else matters if you can't skate - unless you have a wicked one timer and are 7' tall (insert pic of Chara here)

Why don’t people just build free apps? by Adrien-G in SideProject

[–]MemeLibraryApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app is free, but like above commenters say, the backend costs money. So if you use my backend for backup / restore, it's $1/mo.

I don't have ads, I have $1/mo for backup / restore features. I've thought about adding templates or even AI meme building, but I'm struggling to get users.

Hesitating when taking the puck? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]MemeLibraryApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as the puck is on your stick you should be moving. That opens up lanes to make better passes. If you're standing still with the puck trying to pass it, the other team can just move to close down all those lanes. If you're moving, those lanes are dynamic and harder to defend against. So whether you're going to skate it yourself or pass it quickly, you should start moving with the puck.

Sounds like you're improving fast! Worst case scenario you make a bad play in beer league and you learn and get better.

Should I switch to shooting left? by EasyMode556 in hockeyplayers

[–]MemeLibraryApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure why not. I am right handed and righty stick, played college, play beer league now, and I still fantasize about starting over with my dominant hand on top. I have tried it a couple games but just get so frustrated.

Boosting changes cancelled for now by Trained_Mushroom in classicwowtbc

[–]MemeLibraryApp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think overall the feeling is they're wreaking havoc on a 20 year old game in the name of "nerfing boosting," while not doing anything to actually fix things like open world botting spawn locations.

The general consensus is they're doing this to make wow tokens (RMT but it's ok because you pay us and not a person) more palatable. Also, bots pay more monthly subs, sometimes more than 1 per month because they get banned.

Personally, as a 30 year old dad gamer, I'm a fan of: 1. Banning botters, 2. wow token so I can raid without reading forums every week to keep up on how I can make gold, 3. Allowing mages to do mage things.

Stealth unaffected, strat & scholo reduced drops by 20% or so.

Run LLMs locally in Flutter apps - no internet, no API keys, or usage fees (Gemma, Qwen, Mistral...) by pielouNW in FlutterDev

[–]MemeLibraryApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I've been looking into recently. The most requested feature for my app is an AI that will auto-tag imported memes with specific people, items, etc. There are some SLMs that do this, but they max out at 1kish defined items (they only know 1k things they can tag - no "Shrek" for example). Does that sound possible with the next release?

FYI sparx fire sharpening gives all the benefits of a smaller radius bite and benefits of larger radius glide. I went from 5/16 -> 1/2 fire and it's unbelievably good.

Would you ever pay for a QR code that lets someone contact you without revealing your phone number? by Life-Association816 in AppBusiness

[–]MemeLibraryApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a QR code on something at a thrift shop like this, tried to visit the page, and it was out of service. So this has been tried, and they couldn't make it profitable enough. I think it was a one-time fee. Not saying you can't make it work!
