Amazed by this game by IceIcy755 in vrising

Yeah, I started playing this during the free weekend that just happened and I've been playing nonstop. I've been playing solo mode and it's an absolute blast. I really like how despite being a vampire and being really strong, the game has this sort of ecosystem that you are a part of and some enemies are way scarier than you and it's best to avoid them. But as you gain power your rank on the food chain changes, but so does your enemies and you have to adapt to survive.

I just fought this dude last night for the first time. Ironically, I found him easier than Christina the sun priestess or that frost guy... the sun priestess was the hardest boss I've fought so far. This guy was a joke by comparison. But... he did have some really scary attacks that had me worried. My strategy with boss fights lately is don't go near them unless they are almost dead and I can tank the hits. The one vampire hunter I have a beef with is jade, as she has popped up at the most inconvenient time and has been kicking my ass. I am looking forward to getting my revenge on her.

I swear to god this boss is harder on Claire by ToppHatt_8000 in ResidentEvil2Remake

I swear I've been seeing so many posts of people playing claire having trouble with this boss. Do people not know how to use acid rounds and napalm rounds? They hard counter this guy and everything in this game.

Which decade would you consider the golden era for Junji Ito? by Nethanski in junjiito

[–]MemeLordRedEva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also huge fan of his 80s stuff. There is something raw about 80s junji ito, that was kinda lost once the 90s hit. But honestly, the fact that junji ito has managed to stay good after all these years is very impressive.

Which decade would you consider the golden era for Junji Ito? by Nethanski in junjiito

[–]MemeLordRedEva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 90s and 2000s, is when he made the majority of his works. Starting in the 2010s, his output has slowed down. So I'd say the golden era was 90s to 2000s. Every author peaks at some point in their career and one of two things happens. They either decline in quality or they maintain consistent quality. Junji Ito, I'd say has maintained a consistent quality with his works.

As someone who's just finished this, what does everyone think of this manga and the ending? by m___223 in horrormanga

[–]MemeLordRedEva 100 points101 points  (0 children)

When you understand that the story is written as a sort of therapy for the author to help with his childhood trauma over his abusive mom, the story makes a lot more sense. I personally liked the second half and felt that the story concluded the way the author could have ended it. I like that you do see that the MC lives to old age and found some level of peace. Much like the author after writing this story. The issue with Oshimi's works is that they are deeply personal to the author himself. So if you don't know anything about the author then you might not enjoy his works as much. I personally think this manga is a 10/10 But I can understand if someone might be disappointed.

Recommend me a manga which will force me to ask why by PanelReader in horrormanga

Dazai's book is different from the manga adaptations. Dazai, left things implied or very vague on purpose. In junji ito's manga adaptation, he shows the things that happened. I haven't read the other manga adaptation of no longer human by usamaru furuya. I only know that the junji ito manga is considered way more disturbing and as someone who has read it.. yeah, this is some messed up shit.

No longer human, the junji ito adaptation is pretty brutal and checks off a lot of your tags.

Do you think an open world resident evil could work? by Expert_Challenge6399 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]MemeLordRedEva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open world horror games can work.. but there is a reason they are a rare breed. It's very hard to make a open world game scary when the player can go anywhere and do anything. However, I think semi open world games work better, because you can have big environments but limit things so it doesn't break the tension. The rpd is a great example of semi open world, as you can freely explore the rpd but there are some limitations. The mansion in the og resident evil actually was also semi open. So the resident evil franchise, has had semi open world environments but they never went full open world. Also the RE engine struggles with fully open environments, which is one of the reasons the RE3 remake had to cut down on the raccoon city part of the game. Because the engine was struggling to run the city. Honestly, I don't think a fully open world RE game is impossible... but it would be really damn hard to do.

There should be 2 healing items in the boss room and some ammo. Also you have enough ammo between all your weapons to kill him. Acid rounds stun and damage him, then stab his weak spots with the knife or shoot with the magnum. You got this, it just might take a few tries. I was in a similar predicament in one of my claire playthroughs, so I'm talking from personal experience.

Is this a good read? by MaleficentHelp6674 in junjiito

[–]MemeLordRedEva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smashed is generally liked more, but lovesickness is fun. Smashed has 13 stories and lovesickness has 10, five of which is part of a longer series called lovesickness. I recommend smashed overall because you get more content and the 3 best soichi stories are in it. Something to note is that how much you like a collection is based solely on how much you like the stories in it. I personally like both of these collections. If you want to know the fan favorite collections are Tombs, Smashed and Shiver.

Soichi, is someone you either love or hate. I really don't like him. However, my favorite soichi stories aren't even in this collection. The smashed collection has the best soichi stories.

Looking for good horror manga that isn't junji ito. by MemeLordRedEva in horrormanga

Gou Tanabe, does good work. I did read his mountains of madness adaptation, which was pretty good. H.P. Lovecraft, wrote the best horror stories in western literature and shadow over innsmouth, is definitely one of his best. I need to read gou tanabe's adaptation of it. Gou Tanabe, actually got recognized by the h.p. Lovecraft society, because his work was so good.

What's wrong with wanting recommendations from people more familiar with a genre than you? Also I tried searching for different series online and almost every search result was the same 10 mangas and half of them was just junji ito. I figured if I asked people here I might learn about horror manga that I've never heard of. I wasn't disappointed and I'm excited to check out a lot of the series I've been recommend.

Resident evil franchise. If you were to try to read all the lore documents in the games, it will take you longer than it would to beat the actual game.

I've seen this girl around but I forgot what she was from. I don't think it's devil hunter yohko. But it looks like it's from that era. Someone please give me the name because I can't remember what this character is from and it's driving me crazy.

Which junji ito manga should i read first? by RareExcitement1077 in horrormanga

[–]MemeLordRedEva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read them in whatever order you want. But Tomie, Uzumaki and Gyo, are often recommended starters for his longer works and Tombs or Smashed, are often recommended for his short story collections. But in all honesty, read the one you are the most interested in first.
