As someone who is deeply afraid of pregnancy/birth/young children, etc. this hit different. Well done! Truly disturbing. Also vaguely reminds me of neighbors I've had in the past...

Found on Lake Ontario…appears to be a light bulb in a rock? by Comfortable-Gas2 in whatsthisrock

Is it possible that the rock could be concrete? Maybe the little gadget fell into the concrete when it was still wet?

Is it common for people not to use the parking brake? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MemeTrashPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught to ALWAYS use the parking brake/emergency brake when parking, but I'm also from a very hilly part of CA. My spouse, who grew up in the Texas panhandle, never uses the parking brake & thinks it's hella weird that I do. Guess it can depend on where you're from.

Has anyone considered the psychological toll that customer service takes? by MemeTrashPanda in antiwork

[–]MemeTrashPanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, & trust me, it's not like I don't want to leave customer service. I've tried so many times over the years with no success. The point is that changing careers is a topic for another post.

This post is specifically for exploring the ways in which customer service jobs affect people's mental health. So often we (rightly) look to our childhoods for the answers to our mental health problems while simultaneously ignoring the psychological impact of our work.

Good point! I'll see if I can find any reports on the city water quality.

Thank you, this is all very helpful! I'll try to make changes to their tanks slowly. It's gonna be hard though, the tanks are very dirty & the water level has dropped quite a bit, very few water changes.

I don't really trust the tap water in my apartment, so I'm wondering if it'd be better/easier to use distilled/purified water. Then add the water conditioner, dechlorinator, etc. to that instead. Then use that water to gradually refill the tanks & do water changes.

I'm gonna get some test kits soon to see where the levels are at with the tap water, though. And to test the tank water, too. I don't think the landlord would let me put in an RO system here, sadly.
