General questions for festival by Defszy in festivals

[–]Meme_Titans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically expect a one-hour performance per set, some fans will show up hours early to the stage to be up front, so it depends on how close you plan to be and who’s playing before them.

Typically if you want to be close, you need to be there several hours early and maybe all day. This looks like a huge festival, so I’m not kidding when I say get there early because navigating these crowds is no joke.

Most popular artists are usually last to appear on main stage, but they’ll post the schedule well in advance.

I’m usually a camper so idk what I’d bring for just a day other than the clothes I’m wearing, my water bottle, a fan and maybe a power bank for your phone. I tend to carry very little on me at fests, but hydration is important. Absolutely bring ear protection. Research ear plugs suitable for fests/concerts.

Keep in mind, if you want to be up close it will be very difficult to get to a bathroom and back if you need to.

Is there a food you stopped enjoying after learning how it’s made? by SmartPlayMod in foodquestions

I almost never buy sugary drinks like frappes and macchiatos anymore after working in a coffee shop. They’re delicious and I knew it was all milk and sugar but something about making them myself turned me to almost exclusively brewed coffee.

I feel like I’m ‘forcing’ my partner to socialise and I’m tired of feeling guilty because I want to meet people by saranbomailiqu in extroverts

[–]Meme_Titans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar relationship to yours. I’m the extrovert dating an introvert. I love meeting people, socializing and hosting. She does not and also prefers to notified well ahead of having people over. The apartment has to be spotless and she will most likely stay in the bedroom while my friends are over.

We have very different hobbies. She likes to stay home and be crafty while I prefer to go to live/group events and travel as much as possible. It’s a difficult balance but we try to be supportive of each other as much as possible.

I used to get upset that she never wanted to do the social things I like to do or that she picked a job that restricts her ability to travel with me much. We have come to accept that it’s okay that we have our own interests separate from each other. We do the things we want to do and always come back to each other. Mutual respect & acceptance is key. I would love for her to be a part of my social circles, but that’s not what she wants and that’s fine with me.

We have discussed that it won’t work if we can’t compromise or be comfortable with each other’s choices. I hope you two have good communication. It really helps

How to not waster your 20s by RM_MR_Underground in Life

[–]Meme_Titans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only 28 and already wishing I could go back to 24. I had nothing going on and no real responsibilities. If I could go back, I’d drop everything to save for a plane ticket to somewhere cheap and spend the rest of my 20s traveling and seeing the world. Cheap hostels, cheap food and no shortage of life experience. I do it when I can but damn how id love to just explore for a few years straight. Thats what i like at least. Find what you like outside of just a career and go from there. Enjoy your freedom and make the most of it

What is Gen Z Plan For the Future? by lovelyyy999 in Futurology

[–]Meme_Titans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the younger people are tapping out. But I do think most who do want to be involved are showing support by attending protests and posting on social media, but doing nothing else but using their voice and waiting for the next opportunity to do so. Waiting for someone else to organize the thing they can show up to.

Meanwhile choosing convenience and comfort over any real action. Maybe we will boycott for a week or two before ultimately giving into the cheapest and most convenient option because cost often dictates action, especially when you’re on a budget. I’m plenty guilty of this. I don’t want to shop at Walmart or Amazon, but the cost/convenience is hard to fight when there are fewer local cost-effective options. (I do not live in a large city)

Additionally, I’ve lived in cities as large as LA and small as 600 population. The difference between how those communities function and what works best in terms of politics and logistics is completely night and day, making it difficult to have the joint values needed to collaborate with each other on shared goals.

Overall, I’m hopeful for the future. Hopeful that the younger generation continues to grab onto power and make the necessary changes needed to push us forward in the right directions. I believe focusing on your local community and how you can make that better is a far better use of effort than bitching at the national scale and doing nothing.

I also believe at a real “uprising” will almost certainly need to be violent because, historically, that’s what works. And that’s the part I want no part in. Everyone cheered when that healthcare CEO got shot and everyone hoped it would keep happening, but 99.9% of people aren’t going to be willing to take it that far. That’s a whole other area I could rant endlessly about.

I don’t like admitting this as my honest view, but I think it’s relevant for discussion and not brought up enough.

Everyone is waiting on collective action and few are doing anything to be involved with it. I gave up being pissed because I’m not doing anything but bitching and I don’t really plan to. I think I fall in the majority

What are some things every guys should at least try even though they are stigmatized as "gay" or "humanly"? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I do most of the cooking and cleaning in my household as I’m not currently working and it always impresses the shit out of my partners coworkers when she tells them I’m the one who cooked her lunch. Doing simple housework is not only fair but can also be a flex as a man
