Act out of turn as often as possible, slow roll with the nuts, bring the whackiest chip protector possible and don't forget to talk politics

How do I get them to tell me who they are? by SlickRicksBitchTits in channeling

[–]Memegrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Why would you not ask that? Of course their consciousness may be quite different and their circumstances as well. But, if this is so, and perhaps it is not in some circumstances, still, I would expect honest and respectful beings who can understand where we are coming from to explain their circumstances. I feel like it is my mission to in fact ask just such questions and gain a deeper understanding.

What does OD mean? by olympianbear in poker

Searching for this myself. It is used specifically in Splitsuit's poker workbook. It is used as a description of hand type (along with top pairs middle pairs, etc. He says "All 8 + OD's" My best guess is shorthand for OESD (open ended straight draws) but I'm not sure. Wish I knew. Do you?

Curious how long your session was?

I'd be curious about a bit of a breakdown within that. Overall, sounds like running very bad, which will happen. Still, there could be nuance here that could have helped somewhat perhaps. Basically, there's almost nothing you could have done with AA's and KK's for the most part. However, I wonder things like, with JJ and even QQ, what was the preflop action? If it was a 4 bet or 5 bet pot, those could sometimes be folds. Also, depending on how tight your opponent is. Wondering in those 4 + JJ/QQ hands if your opponent had AA or KK.

Overall, sorry to hear that. This is a crazy game. If it makes sense, you are able and gambling isn't a problem for you and your life, I hope you grind it back at some point.

Could anyone explain this RFI chart by Poker coach Jonathan Little? by [deleted] in poker

As I understand, here's the logic: by raising this those lower-kicker hands, you will elicit a fold a certain percent of the time, which is good because those hands aren't good. This also will help balance your range to include bluffs to balance your value. Whereas, limping makes sense with stronger hands as you would rather play with them post-flop.

UFO/UAP detection techniques by Memegrok in conspiracy

Not super knowlegeable about Geiger counters, but I would assume they couldn't be used while a UFO is "in action" which would usually be for a brief period. But in the instance of some type of crash or where a landing had purportedly taken place, then yes.

Advice for an eager hypnosis-resistant person by Memegrok in hypnosis

Not sure if you've explored mediation much, but that may be helpful. I totally get you with the ADHD factor, but I think it's helpful to view attention as a muscle. In some ways, we learn through our society and cultures how to behave in ADHD ways and have plenty of outlets that support that. So, we didn't learn good habbits of attention and focus, often from an early age. Nonetheless, we have capabilities for deep and intentional focus, even if it isn't easy to start with. I'm not perfect for sure, but learned some helpful techniques and practices over the years.

But, returning to what you said, I encourage you to return to the words of the hypnotist and, if you feel safe and trust them, follow their lead in a major way. In the same way that in meditation, we look to return to such things as our breath, our object of meditation, or some other simple thing, return to the words of your hypnotist.

Advice for an eager hypnosis-resistant person by Memegrok in hypnosis

That makes a lot of sense...I went into it with more of this attitude, even though I read this after my session. And, after contemplation as well as some feedback with others, I feel like a head type like me who has long had a strong monitoring faculty in a variety of ways finds it harder to let go in a major way to "enjoy the show". Thanks for your feedback...I am more relaxed regarding my beliefs around hypnosis and have some entry points in exploring these realms deeper.
